Kelvedon in Essex – located between Chelmsford and Colchester – is a commuter village that along with the surrounding area forms part of Braintree District. Comprising a wide range of properties, it offers everything from Victorian first-time buyer homes to imposing family abodes.
Boydens’ West Essex branch is a small but exceptionally busy branch that handles residential sales and lettings. In addition to Kelvedon, where it is based, the branch has extensive coverage including (but not limited to) the towns of Braintree and Witham, and the villages of Tiptree, Coggeshall, Great Notley, Feering, Messing and Great Braxted.

About me
I joined Boydens fi ve years ago, having previously worked in estate agency in London. I have spent most of my working life in the property industry (over 30 years) and have four children. I am a huge fan of Only Fools and Horses.
My day to day
We always start the day in the offi ce with our morning meeting in order to set the priorities for the day ahead. I am responsible for the vast majority of sales and lettings valuations for the branch, and work with my fantastic team to help us expand the growth of our branch into new areas and markets.
What I love about my job
Every day is diff erent. My team are superb and very loyal, and I am proud of the environment we have created at West Essex where there is a real buzz around the work we have done over the last couple of years in order to establish ourselves as a leading agent in the local area.
Seeing a property exchange is always a high point... and a property sale or let complete, especially when we have built up a rapport with those clients. Seeing the happy faces of clients moving into their new home is something which never fails to delight me.

About me
I have a broad range of work experience gained in a variety of roles, from hospitality and bar management to the NHS and property management based in Canary Wharf. I began running fi ve years ago and run a half marathon every year, each time for a diff erent charity. I also enjoy reading and writing and am currently writing a self-help book. I have four grown-up children and a grandson.
My day to day
The fi rst task of the day is always to attend our branch morning meeting which sets us up for the day ahead. I then allocate time to following up leads which have come in overnight. The core part of each day is taken up with viewings, leafl et drops, valuations and follow-ups on our database. The days always pass very quickly in our branch!
What I love about my job
I love viewing diff erent properties, especially character properties. It is also very interesting seeing new development sites as they take shape.
Every day is different, and the nature of my job means that I am not sat at my desk the whole time. I love seeing a sale from start to finish, and it is always highly rewarding to have conversations with clients and to build those relationships.

About Me
Prior to joining Boydens, I worked as an administrator in pest control and hygiene services, and before that in pub and restaurant management. Both these roles gave me a firm grounding in customer service. I enjoy baking and sewing and am a keen animal lover. I have one daughter.
My day to day
My day is always varied and I am generally the first point of contact for the branch. I carry out write-ups for our properties as well as undertaking the occasional viewing. I also manage the progression of our lettings and carry out the referencing process whilst also handling queries on sales we have underway. My role is very diverse and also involves helping out our Property Manager when required.
What I love about my job
I love the variety of my job – there is literally something different every day. I also enjoy the rapport I have been able to build up with landlords, tenants, vendors and our contractors. An added bonus is getting to see other homes and properties which I find interesting, as you can often take inspiration from what other people have done to their homes.

About me
I joined Boydens in 2010 as a part-time administrator, having previously worked in the insurance industry. In my spare time, I love to spend time with my family and two grandchildren. I also enjoy eating out and a nice glass of wine!
My day to day
I always start the day checking emails in order to be fully up to speed with any new maintenance issues which may have arisen overnight. The next priority is to check the status of existing maintenance jobs, chasing invoices and contractors, and then dealing with the unforeseen emergencies which may occur on the maintenance side.
What I love about my job
I love meeting people and really enjoy working with my colleagues, which is always a hive of activity. The best part of the job is helping to resolve issues to the satisfaction of the clients, and over the years I have built up good relationships with my landlords, which means I am able to help them even better.

About me
I have been a mortgage advisor since 2013. I previously worked in retail for ten years, but have always worked closely with estate agents since becoming an advisor. I am a keen football fan, and I play seven-a-side football. I have two children.
My day to day
My role is to look after the West Essex, Sudbury and Coastal Branches, and so I spend time regularly in those branches but am more regularly based in the West Essex Branch. My time is spent researching products for clients, taking into account their specific needs, whilst also chasing lenders and solicitors to progress deals accordingly.
What I love about my job
Being part of securing a client a new home remains a rewarding part of my job. This job also comes with a certain level of flexibility, and so I am able to balance my home and work life. The job is always most rewarding when a complicated application is completed and the client is delighted.
