AHA|SA Supports Mental Health Fundraiser

Australian Hotels Association of South Australia General Manager, Ian Horne, has made a $10,000 song dedication in Erin and Soda’s Feelgood Friday Jukebox for Breakthrough Mental Health Research Foundation fundraiser.

The AHA|SA GM told the show the donation was inspired by a tough couple of years for SA’s hospitality industry, which has been among the hardest hit during the covid pandemic.

He said more than 25,000 South Aussies were stood down from hospitality jobs during the first lockdown, in March 2020. He said the mental impact from that has been evident across the industry.

“It took until the end of June to get a large number of them back (into jobs). And of course, that (uncertainty) creates havoc for people,” Horne said.

In a Mix 102.3 first, Erin and Soda are swapping their breakfast show for a non-stop jukebox-style request show, every Friday for the rest of October to raise funds for Breakthrough Mental Health Research Foundation.

Each song request costs $250 – the exact amount it takes for Breakthrough Foundation to train one mental health first aider. The goal is to raise enough funds to help Breakthrough train a Mental Health First Aiders for every Adelaide club, community, and sporting group in Adelaide.

However, the AHA|SA has gone over and above and donated 10K for a single song. The song was revealed on Friday’s show and Ian promised it’s one you’ve never heard on Mix 102.3 before.

Charity Golf Day Scores $2.8 Million to Assist Many Children’s Charities

The Liquor Industry Golf Club (LIGC) holds an annual golf day in February each year to support Children’s charities here in South Australia.

Next year’s event for the LIGC Charity Golf Day will be held on Monday 7 February 2022 at Grange Golf Club – shotgun start at 7am!

There will be $70,000 from the 2021 Charity Day to distribute to selected children’s charities which will be announced closer to the event.

The Charity Day is a key event on the hospitality golf calendar and has raised considerable funds over the past 20 years of approx.$2.8 million. It is attended by many industry businesses, providers and a gang

of hoteliers who also volunteer their help on the day.

Exceptional on-going sponsorship has been assured by our major sponsorship partners in BankSA and Grange Golf Club to key corporates with Thomas Farm Meats, West

End, Coopers, Coca-Cola, CUB Premium beverages and many other allied liquor industry providers.

Rob Gillies, Chair of the LIGC Charity Day committee, understands what it will mean to the children’s charities who benefit from the funds this year.

“The generosity of the hospitality industry and other associated businesses ensures that this Charity day spreads the funds far and wide,” Rob said.

Every year we have a record number of applications from various Children’s charities to seek funds from our event, and we will again endeavour to assist those charities most in need.”

The day will celebrate these charities, and also move towards the landmark $3 million raised.
