What’s been cooking at the Club? Cooking classes are now available for youth 4th grade and up.

This summer, the Club tried out the idea of a cooking class. There were a few kinks in the system, but overall it was clear that members enjoyed cooking. This fall, we have taken our cooking class to the next level. Each month, members 4th grade and up (also known as the Lions group), have the opportunity to register for cooking. Members can pay $5 to participate in a cooking class each Friday of the month. Members learn to follow recipes, measure ingredients, handle kitchen utensils, wash dishes, and work together. In addition, members always get to eat whatever they have created. In September, members made pancakes, waffles, eggs in a basket, and breakfast smoothies. In October, members made quesadillas, guacamole, empanadas, charro beans, Mexican rice, and homemade corn tortillas. In honor of Thanksgiving, November will be the month of potatoes. Members who sign up for cooking will learn 4 different potato recipes.

Can Crushers at the Club Members become involved in Club recycling initiative.

Since becoming CEO, Katherine Palmer has been making many small yet important changes. One of those small changes was beginning to recycle cardboard. By summertime, Palmer had equipped each room with its own recycling bin. Members are now encouraged to recycle cans, plastic bottles, paper, and cardboard. Each week, members are given the opportunity to help sort through the recycling and earn Club Bucks.
