BGCML - A place to BELONG.

Creating an environment where middle schoolers choose to be can be a real challenge. There is a mood (a vibe, if you will) that you have to get just right. Whatever it is, the Club staff at Oakridge Middle School have nailed it. The photo below is a typical lunch period in our Club's space within OMS.

While

programming isn't offered during the lunch period, the space is available under the supervision of Mr. David Greeno, the Site Director. As you can see from the photo, the 'vibe' is very relaxed and comfortable. Our staff are committed to creating welcoming environments so that all kids can find connection, support, and a sense of belonging.

CEO Corner

Club Site Updates

Dear Friends, I am honored and humbled by the opportunity to contribute to the positive impact that the Boys & Girls Club has in my hometown of Muskegon. As a mom of two young boys and a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, I value BGCMLs research-based approach to youth development. I believe that by providing academic support, enriching experiences, and a safe place where youth feel they belong, we provide the next generation a path to discover their own greatness and role within our community. A place to belong is the foundation of our mission. The Boys & Girls Club of the Muskegon Lakeshore would be nothing without the heart and dedication of our team of over 50 employees whose work, directly and indirectly, molds the after school culture and outcomes of our programs. With six locations operating inside of schools and one location outside of the school-based sites, we have the capacity to connect with over 300 youth per day. This number will be doubled when the Clubhouse location at 900 W Western reopens next fall!

working hard to fill their October reading logs. Reading aloud is part of their PowerHour everyday!

The work we do could not be done without the generous support of donors, like you. Did you know that a gift of just $5 provides a snack and meal for one child for a day? A gift of $25 allows a youth to explore adventure sports, such as swimming, golf, sailing, and more. An entire weeks worth of program supplies is covered by a $100 gift! Every gift, small and large, is valued and greatly appreciated by our Club youth and their families. Thank you for continuing to support our Club and our mission.
