AND Community Sponsored & Memorial
Letter from the Chair
Dear Community Members, I am Candace Pratt, and I have been honored to serve as the Board Chair of the Bozeman Schools Foundation (BSF) for the past three years. This has been an extraordinary year for the BSF, and it couldn’t have happened without our community support. Generous contributions from local businesses, organizations, families, and individuals have enabled us to do more for students and teachers in classrooms throughout the district.
Recognizing the growing importance of community support for our public schools, the BSF Board and the BSD7 Board of Trustees approved a new framework, expanding the strategic partnership between our institutions. By working together, BSF and BSD7 will be better able to meet the changing needs of our students and grow opportunities for continued innovation and excellence in public education in Bozeman.
While growing our strategic partnership with BSD7, BSF continued to deliver and expand the programs and services for which we have become known:
Student Support and Classroom Grants BSF gifted new copies of Bear Came Along to each first grader at every BSD7 elementary school, first-grade classroom, and school library.
We awarded $20,000 in Spark Grants, funding innovation and creativity in our schools. We also hosted the first Spark Fair, where grant-winning educators presented their work to other teachers, community members, and funders.
We facilitated the purchase of approved school supply kits for BSD7 elementary schools. Thanks to our local sponsors and the sale of supply kits, we were able to provide students who could not afford school supplies with their own kits.
Community Engagement and Partnerships BSF and BSD7 expanded our support for Bozeman Reads. This community-facing program educates childcare providers, parents, guardians, and individuals on early literacy and skill building so that students can better succeed when they enter BSD7. BSF has raised over $100,000 for Bozeman Reads from local businesses, foundations, and individual donors to date.
In partnership with PACs, our annual Pack the Sack campaign raised over $25,000 for the Gallatin Valley Food Bank’s Healthy Kids Pack and school nutrition programs.
2023
Community Building and Staff Appreciation The 2022 Santa Run for Education brought runners, volunteers, and community supporters together for our annual 5K, which kicked off the Holiday Stroll. Many stayed after the race to enjoy the winter wonderland Willson Gym with hot cocoa, a raffle, and photos with our Running Yeti, Santa, and Mrs. Claus. The 2023 Santa Run raised record funds for the Foundation’s programs in classrooms and schools throughout BSD7.
We showed our community’s appreciation for our teachers and staff by co-hosting both a Welcome Back Breakfast and the Staff Holiday Party. Both events were made possible with the support of local businesses and restaurants. We also delivered 200 shiny apples and certificates of appreciation from students and parents to teachers and staff throughout Bozeman as part of our annual Apple Awards program.
Scholarships This May, we celebrate the success of our students, teachers, and all that a BSD7 education means through the Worthy Student Scholarships. For 45 years, this unique program has recognized “worthy students” for the strength of their character and their commitment to others. These students, in turn, identify the Distinguished Educators that have influenced them. We are also pleased to convey 30 Community Sponsored and Memorial scholarships honoring beloved teachers, students, and community members.
BSF is proud to acknowledge these fantastic students. It is grateful to the community that creates opportunities for these graduates in their post-high school pursuits, whether their plans include college, trade school, or other professional certifications.
Bozeman is a community that genuinely cares about education. On behalf of the BSF, I thank you for letting us be your partner.
Warmest Regards,
Candace Corette Pratt, Chairman of the Board, Bozeman Schools FoundationINDIGO ANDRESEN PARENTS

I will never forget the lessons I have learned from Joel and the memories I have made with him as my coach.

Mr. Boyle was my sophomore year teacher for both Algebra II and HE. Though it was a weird year due to COVID, I’m fortunate to have a solid friendship with him to this day. After losing in the soccer playoffs this fall, he was the first person that texted me afterwards - reminding me of all the good things I’d accomplished and that he thought the world of me. That was such a boost for me, because I care about soccer and was really down after that game. He has had such an impact on me. Throughout high school I’ve known that he is on my side and there to support me. He is nothing short of amazing.

He told me about how EMDR works and how he would be understanding of my psyche (pun intended) going forwards with my academics. He’s also always had time for my side remarks about psychology, and plays off of my jokes I make during class, and it really just warms the environment in the class too.

Her integrity translates in the classroom and creates a wonderful, healthy, and fun learning environment. I’m very thankful to have had Ms. Geissler as a teacher and mentor.

PAM BROWN
I met Mrs. Brown freshman year in what used to be the math lab. I like to say that it was in this dingy, badly-lit room that I began to love learning again and Mrs. Brown was the reason. Not only is she an exemplary teacher who easily makes the most difficult math understandable, she also has a way of making students feel welcome and valued. All those who know her, know her generosity, selflessness and her willingness to help. I adore Mrs. Brown, she is the reason I want to become an educator.
“Maeve is always noticing ways that she can be helpful to other people - and she acts on those notions! She stops to help strangers and I think that also makes her quite brave.”

Mr. Strahn was the first teacher I opened up to, and I am very glad I did so. Since that moment, I felt safe in his classroom and knew I wasn’t alone in what I was going through. Mr. Strahn’s class brought back my passion for learning. He has always been supportive and attentive. I want to thank him for his hard work, patience, and overall optimism which radiates through his lectures and class.

BOZEMAN READS
The Bozeman Schools Foundation is partnering with BSD7 to provide early literacy training and school readiness programming for families and childcare providers throughout Bozeman. We successfully raised over $100,000 from local businesses and community organizations in support of early literacy.
SEPTEMBER LINKS TO LITERACY
Each year, every BSD7 first grader receives a new hardcover book from the Bozeman Schools Foundation. This book acts as a seed to help promote literacy and the importance of reading at home. The Foundation then partners with the Public Library to host a “Celebration of the Book” with activities and education for children and parents.
NOVEMBER
SPARK CLASSROOM GRANTS
This grant program provides opportunities for learning in new environments with creative teaching methods and is open to all teachers and staff within BSD7.
DECEMBER
SANTA RUN
The Santa Run for Education is a 5K run in December, benefiting the Bozeman Schools Foundation, school PACs, teams and clubs. With a goal of linking fitness, fun and education, this event is an anchor for the Downtown Bozeman Christmas Stroll Festivities.
FEBRUARY PACK THE SACK
Each year we partner with the Gallatin Valley Food Bank to raise funds to support the Healthy Kids Pack program. Kids Pack provides weekly meal packages to help students facing food insecurity stay fed over the weekend. Through in-school fund drives, food donations and events we raised over $25,000 this year.

A p ple Awards
An APPLE Recognition Award honors teachers, administrators, staff and school leaders for their dedication and contributions to excellence in education. An APPLE award is provided to educators who are selected by students and parents with a personal message and acknowledgment at the school, district and community levels.
MAY - JUNE SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE
We offer well-priced school supply kits from the official school supply list. Order online and the kits are delivered directly to your home.
