GIVE BIG GALLATIN VALLEY 2022

LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT AND CEO Merriam Webster defines the word “community” as a group of people with a common characteristic or interest living together within a larger society. But in the Gallatin Valley, we get the opportunity to see a far richer definition of this word “community” demonstrated every day. 10

ONE VALLEY

We see community defined through small acts of service and connection that weave a strong social fabric throughout our area. When community members shovel the walkways of their neighbors in West Yellowstone, or volunteer to support their school boards in Belgrade, or serve in local governments in Three Forks, community is defined before our very eyes. Every time we say hello to someone we don’t know while hiking the “M” trail in Bozeman, we are weaving the social fabric that binds us together. For generations, we’ve defined the word “community” through these acts – big and small. Another way we define our community is by making it easier for people to connect to causes that matter. And one of the most important ways we do this is through Give Big, the annual celebration of our local nonprofits community. During Give Big, each one of us gets an opportunity to weave this social fabric throughout Gallatin County, support causes that matter most to us, and build our community. In 2015, the first Give Big shattered our goal of raising $100,000 for 100 nonprofits by raising $237,000. Over the last seven years, Give Big, and your generosity, has continued to grow. In just seven years, our community has raised more than $8.5 million for our community’s nonprofits through almost 56,000 individual gifts. In 2021 alone, Give Big brought 6,269 community members together to raise almost $2.7 million in just 24-hours.

nonprofits throughout Gallatin County and make our communities what we want them to be. This has never been more important than it is today. The One Valley Community Foundation will host its 8th annual 24-hour Give Big initiative from 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 5 to 6 p.m. Friday, May 6. This is your chance to build community the way you want it to be.

So how can you Give Big this May 5 and 6? There are two simple ways:

1. Give online:

Go to www.givebiggv.org and find a cause you care about and give big. It’s that simple. It doesn’t matter how much you give. Even a dollar helps. Just give and build your community.

2. Give a gift of check:

You can make out a check to the nonprofit you would like to support and mail it directly to that organization, or you can give to multiple organizations via one check by filling out an Offline Donation Form and bringing it to the Give Big team on Friday, May 6th. You can get an Offline Donation Form and drop off checks at the Give Big headquarters located in Sky Oro (107 E Oak St, Suite 1A, Bozeman) on May 6th from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

At the One Valley Community Foundation, we are proud to support nonprofits from Bozeman to Three Forks and Belgrade to Big Sky through Give Big. Our one-day fundraising event that inspires all of us to come together, Bridget Wilkinson, President and CEO, contribute to the life-changing work of local One Valley Community Foundation

Our goal at One Valley Community Foundation is to engage more community members than ever before in 24-hours to give to causes that matter most to them. This year, more than 200 nonprofits are participating in our giving day. All online gifts will help your favorite nonprofit win prizes from a pool of funds and services that has been raised by the Community Foundation, generous local businesses, and foundations. In addition, numerous nonprofit organizations have secured matching funds to help your gift go farther on Give Big day. Every donation makes a difference, because when we work together, all our gifts turn into something big. So please Give Big. Because strong and vibrant communities don’t happen by accident. They happen because of you.

GIVE BIG GALLATIN VALLEY 2022

WHAT IS

A DAY OF GIVING?

WHAT IS GIVE BIG GALLATIN VALLEY?

The 8th annual Give Big Gallatin Valley simplifies your giving and amplifies your impact. On May 5th and May 6th from 6pm – 6pm, neighbors across Gallatin County will come together online with a goal to raise funds for 200+ local nonprofits in just 24-hours! In just seven years, Give Big has raised over $8.5 million for hundreds of nonprofits through thousands of donors like you. Give Big provides nonprofits the opportunity not only gain public exposure but also to receive financial support from donors and find new volunteers. As a community member, you have the chance to find and support organizations whose missions align with your passions.

WHO CREATED GIVE BIG?

The One Valley Community Foundation is honored to organize this event each year. We are invested in bringing awareness to the local nonprofit organizations that make our community a vibrant place for us to live, work, and play. Nonprofit organizations play a critical role in all our lives and as a Community Foundation, we are deeply dedicated to supporting the good work that they do. The goal of the Give Big program is to: • Raise the level of knowledge about nonprofit organizations in our county and highlight their positive impact on our well-being. • Support the operating needs of nonprofit organizations that serve Gallatin County through cash prizes made possible by our generous sponsors. • Grow the base of engaged donors in Gallatin County – bringing new donors to our nonprofit organizations. • Spotlight the charitable trends in our community. Where are we giving? What are our nonprofit organizations saying is vital and needed right now? The One Valley Community Foundation does not take a portion of any gifts during Give Big. We only receive gifts made directly to our profile, and we are ineligible to win prizes. To find out more about the Foundation, see page 5.

WHEN IS THE EVENT?

Give Big will be hosted on Thursday, May 5th to Friday, May 6th from 6pm - 6pm.

WHERE IS THE EVENT?

During Give Big, thousands of community members will go online to www.GiveBigGV.org, find a cause they care about and donate. Some organizations will host live events throughout the 24-hours. To see a schedule of events, please go to pages 34-37.

HOW CAN I GIVE ON MAY 5TH AND 6TH?

1. Give online: Go to www.GiveBigGV.org to find a cause you care about and give big! 2. Give a gift of check: You can write a check directly to the nonprofit you would like to support and mail it directly to that nonprofit or you can give to multiple organizations via one check through the One Valley Community Foundation. If you would like to drop off a check, come by the Give Big headquarters on Friday, May 6th between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.

The Give Big team will be based out of Sky Oro in the Cannery District (107 E Oak St, Suite 1A, Bozeman). 3. Be a fundraising champion: You can create your own unique fundraising page for your favorite nonprofit and share it with your circles through email and social media. 4. Volunteer: Donate your time to a cause you care about by finding a volunteer opportunity at GiveBigGV.org. 5. Anyone and everyone. The minimum donation is $5! Whether you donate $10, or $50, each and every donation truly matters. Together, as a community, we can truly make a difference!

HOW DO THE PRIZES WORK?

Online donations made during Give Big may help your favorite organization win prizes! There are over 40 prizes being awarded this year totaling $20,000. You can increase your giving by when and how you give! For example, 5 randomly selected donors between 6 am and 7 am will get a $100 bonus added to their gift. Or the two new nonprofits who get the most donors by 5:00 pm will get a bonus $500 added to their fundraising total. Visit https://www.givebiggv.org/prizes for the full list of prizes your favorite organizations can win!

WHY SHOULD I GIVE BIG?

Give Big is a special event that encourages a community-wide celebration of giving. Plus, when you give during Give Big, your gift can help your favorite nonprofit win prizes to make your giving go further! Your gift may also help nonprofits qualify for matching gifts they’ve secured to bolster their fundraising efforts through Give Big. Each donation during Give Big will help nonprofits better serve our community.

ARE GIFTS TAX-DEDUCTIBLE?

All donations are tax-deductible and irrevocable and will be for the unrestricted use of your chosen charity.

WHAT IF I CAN’T FIND MY FAVORITE NONPROFIT ON THE WEBSITE?

That means they aren’t participating in Give Big. After Give Big 2022, encourage the nonprofit to contact us (info@onevalley.org) so it can register for the May 2023 event! In order to participate, the organization must be a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit located in or serving Gallatin County.

HOW MUCH OF MY DONATION GOES TO THE NONPROFIT?

All donations will be paid to the chosen charity. Of your online donation, only 4.5% + $0.30 will be retained by the credit card companies and the platform, GiveGab. You will have the option during checkout to cover those fees. Gifts of check made directly to the nonprofit or through the One Valley Community Foundation will not incur a fee. The One Valley Community Foundation will not receive any portion of the donations or transaction fees.

GIVE BIG GALLATIN VALLEY 2022

About the One Valley Community Foundation At One Valley Community Foundation, we believe in the power of all people to make a difference in our communities. We celebrate what makes our communities special and we work – every day – with generous donors and remarkable organizations to chart a course for a healthy and vibrant future. We connect people who want to make a difference with the causes that matter most to them, and strive to strengthen nonprofit organizations whose mission-driven work has never been more important. We bring people together, because together we are all stronger. Building on unprecedented recent successes, and with a clear view to a bright and bold future, One Valley Community Foundation is preparing to grow in new and innovative ways. However, we can’t grow into that vision alone. Together with those who’ve come to trust us and believe in our mission, we seek to:

Partner with a growing number of donors to establish funds on their behalf that support the charitable causes and organizations they value most.

• In 2021 alone, those funds helped to provide $2.39 million in transformative and essential support to 241 nonprofit organizations. • Looking to the future, we seek to deepen our relationships with existing fund holders and grow the numbers of donors we serve. Through their generosity, we’ll enhance the impact we have on the causes they care most about.

Strengthen our communities’ nonprofit sector by providing exceptional training and leadership development programs that help essential organizations better deliver on their inspiring missions.

• Already, well-attended programs like Board Launch, Nonprofit Café, Dare to Lead and Financial Bootcamp are helping hard-working nonprofit leaders and volunteers weather the unpredictability of this year and become more resilient organizations. • Building on our success and our reputation for excellence, we know we can expand what’s working well, bring innovative approaches to what will be needed next and establish

creative partnerships that will allow One Valley Community Foundation to lift the nonprofit sector to new heights.

Multiply the impact of grassroots generosity for the benefit of a growing number of local organizations.

• Each year, One Valley Community Foundation’s Give Big Gallatin Valley inspires thousands of donors to make contributions – large and small – to the causes that inspire them. Hundreds of critical nonprofit organizations benefit from the unprecedented focus on giving. • In 2021, Give Big brought 6,269 community members together to raise $2,698,018 in just 24-hours for 210 local nonprofits. • With growing support from sponsors and matching donors, Give Big Gallatin Valley helps cultivate first-time donors, strengthens relationships with long-standing supporters, and bolsters the sustainability of the organizations that are making a difference across our region all year long.

Address our communities’ most pressing challenges by convening critical conversations and engaging diverse stakeholders in innovative ways. • Together, we’re working to bring real and sustainable solutions to the challenges our community faces. One Valley Community Foundation’s non-partisan leadership role in proven initiatives like A Seat at the Table allows a wide range of perspectives and varied constituencies to help build understanding and inform long-term strategies that ultimately support the vibrancy and sustainability of this place we proudly call home. • Today, our focus is on thoughtfully addressing the challenges of accessible and affordable housing, knowing that our rapidly increasing local cost-of-living is having an impact on the social, emotional and economic fabric of our region. We are rightly proud of the successes we’ve realized and the ways in which we’ve demonstrated our ability to learn and grow. At the same time, we know that more can and should be done to foster philanthropy, champion positive social impact, and enhance the inherent vibrancy throughout our region. The future for One Valley Community Foundation is extremely bright, and we welcome new partners and supporters in helping us advance our mission.

If you are a donor, a nonprofit leader, a government official or a passionate community member – you are part of One Valley. Get to know us better and let us help you be a part of the region’s community driven vision for a vibrant and thriving Gallatin Valley. Learn more at www.onevalley.org.
