Bozeman singer Sorryimolive, photographed in Bozeman on Monday, Aug. 15, is releasing her debut album “Not To Be Emotional But…” on Friday, Aug. 19. The record is available on streaming platforms as of midnight. Physical copies will be available at the release show on Aug. 19 or after the show at Cactus Records in Bozeman. (Rachel Hergett

A couple months ago, Bozeman singer Olive Nichole changed her stage name to sorryimolive, a one-word mumbled apology that had been her social media handle since middle school. In some ways sorryimolive, whose debut album “Sorry To Be Emotional But…” is out Friday, embodies an apologetic epithet. In an interview over coffee for this article, she apologizes for an almost indistinguishable stutter, for the hoodie she is wearing to keep warm in air conditioned rooms, and for the logo on the hoodie that may be a distraction when she has her photo Friendstaken.willmake jokes about the apologies. “I say ‘I’m sorry,’ and they say ‘Yeah, you’re Olive,’” the artist explained. But on stage, the anxiety is relegated to the lyrics. Here, Olive shines. Olive grew up in the San Francisco Bay area and remembers being fascinated by musicals. She credits making the leap to performing to her grandmother, who took her to “Annie,” heard her singing along and signed her up for a production of the play with a local children’s theater. She was cast in the lead role. When she moved to Montana at 15 and started going to Belgrade High School, the passion was rekindled, and Olive took on roles such as Miss Adelaide in “Guys and Dolls” and the queen in “Once Upon a Mattress.” “I couldn’t stop,” Olive said. “I got more and more invested in performing.” Olive considered going to college to study musical theater, but balked at the price tag. Instead she tried cosmetology school to pay the bills, working with teens at the Verge on the side.

You have a long history with this house, admiring it for years before buying it eight years ago, correct? Yeah, it’s a little hometown of mine, was a resort per se for people from Detroit, so you used to take a train out. So all the houses were just these little, tiny ramshackle cottages that had no insulation, no indoor plumbing or anything. So the island that this particular cottage is on at one time had this grand hotel and you had to take a canoe over to get to your house because there were no roads, so it was very romantic. And then obviously over the years, it actually became a town and with the suburban flight everyone moved out there and they tore down all the old cottages. So there’s only maybe a dozen of the original cottages left and this was one of them. So when it came up for sale I didn’t necessarily need it but I knew that if I didn’t take it that somebody would tear it down, and it was just so magical to

The one who is deemed the best cook and thriftiest shopper wins a trophy and a year’s supply of groceries.

“I loved it because it was all about home cooks and real grocery shopping,” Drummond says. “You know, not really, ‘Let’s have a challenge about buying only red foods and see what we can come up with at the grocery store.’ It was really about going to the grocery store with a certain budget, being resourceful, utilizing the staples that you already have in your pantry and coming up with the most delicious meal that you can. “So that was a competition show that I could really wrap my head around and feel authentic about in terms of my cooking point of view.”

The talent on the show also impressed Drummond and not just from a culinary standpoint. These are all home cooks with no formal training and a passion for cooking, so Drummond was excited to hear what inspired them. “They were all allowed and encouraged to bring photos for their stations to stick on their fridges during the cook so that they kind of have the inspiration from home,” she says. “Some of them brought that was made from leftovers,” she says. something completely different. “Big Bad Budget Battle”

When it comes to using the words “classic” and “movie” in the same sentence, one of the immediate go-to’s is “Gone With the Wind,” the first film ever shown on Turner Classic Movies. That outlet presents the 1939 epic again Friday, Aug. 26, as part of its “Summer Under the Stars” tribute day for Vivien Leigh ... selected over many other actresses who wanted the job to embody novelist Margaret Mitchell’s fiery Civil War-era heroine Scarlett O’Hara. The stormy love story of Scarlett and charming rogue Rhett Butler (Clark Gable, who fans demanded to get the part) is among the most famous in fiction, and the chemistry between the two stars truly leaps off the screen. They get excellent support from a cast that also includes Leslie Howard as Scarlett’s supposed true love Ashley Wilkes and Olivia de Havilland as his eventual wife Melanie. ‘Gone With the Wind’ breezes in again

“Cast Away” (Hulu, streaming): Director Robert Zemeckis’ somewhat underrated 2000 drama showcases one of the greatest challenges two-time Oscar winner Tom Hanks has had in his career. Playing a FedEx worker who ends up the lone survivor of a plane crash and must learn to exist on an otherwise deserted island, Hanks – holding the screen by himself for almost two-thirds of the movie – is thoroughly compelling to watch.

“Casino” (AMC, Sunday, Aug. 21): While it might not fire on all the cylinders “Goodfellas” did, director Martin Scorsese’s 1995 reunion with Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci in the crime-drama genre still has much to recommend. Those elements include Sharon Stone, giving what many deem her best performance as a hustler who becomes the wife of a Las Vegas casino operator (De Niro).

“Adam-12” (MeTV, Wednesday, Aug. 24): The Jack Webb-produced police drama began its run in 1968 with “The Impossible Mission,” which almost saw Martin Milner’s Pete Malloy leave the Los Angeles force after his partner’s death. Instead, he decided to stick around to break in promising rookie Jim Reed (Kent McCord), forming a team that would last seven TV seasons.

On the cusp of the release of “Sorry To Be Emotional But…”, Olive says the year-and-a-half creation process has felt like a very long lead-up and she’s celebrating the simple fact she got it done.“There’s been times I sat there hating myself,” she said, describing a three-day mental block after she had penned the first few songs. “Nothing came to me and I was like ‘why am I even doing this?’”But she persevered, following a hiphop formula and using pre-made beats to underscore the gist of each lyric, and recording vocals with Luke Scheeler at Jereco“EveryStudios.song I write I personally feel keeps getting better and better,” she said. “Sorry To Be Emotional But…” opens with a song about a painful friend breakup, “Our Friend Theme Song (Best Friend).” It took her years, she said, before she was able to write it. Puzzles & Streaming Bozeman Daily Chronicle August 19 - 25, 2022 15 BY GEORGE DICKIE With each game, Austin Riley’s case for National League MVP becomes more and more compelling.Indeed,in their All-Star third baseman, the Atlanta Braves have a young slugger in the midst of another career year on a team looking to win its fifth consecutive NL East title and second straight world championship. As of late July, the 25-year-old Mississippi product was batting .294 with 28 home runs, 64 RBI, an on-base percentage of .356 and an OPS of .945. He was especially hot in July with an 18-game hitting streak during which he hit .444 with eight homers, 16 RBIs and a 1.383 OPS.

Such hitting prowess has gotten the attention of opposing pitchers, who puzzle over how to pitch him. “He kills fastballs,” Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Patrick Sandoval said after surrendering two hits to Riley in a late July game. “I heard ... that he has the hardest exit velo against breaking balls, too. So it’s tough. You have to execute.”
