The Haslett Village project was a transit oriented design to increase the connectivity of the region around Lansing. The goal was to establish a MidMichigan transit hub that would allow people in the surrounding area to travel more freely by public transportation, using light and heavy rail, as well as rapid bus transit. The hub would include multi-use buildings to give people the ability to live, work, play and shop without traveling to Okemos or Lansing.

Grand Lake Rd

Rockport State Recreational Area project was in partnership with the Michigan DNR. The goal was to establish a master plan for the park that would make it the central hub of a three park system with Negwegon State Park and Thompson’s Harbor State Park. We focused on highlighting and providing access to the amazing natural resources of the park. For my portion, the focus was to design a hiking trail to allow visitors to move around the park and see features like the sink holes that are at the heart of the site. In order to help attract new visitors, we suggested mountain biking trails that could double as Cross Country Skiing and fat tire biking trails during the winter.

As a class we looked at the SEMCOG region for ecological design and the best location for transit centers, to create a public transportation network. As a group of two, we picked stormwater management as our main form of ecological design for the surface parking lots around Comerica Park. The design was to create a large greenspace around Comerica, that people can enjoy anytime of the week not just on game days. The transit center was designed so that it emerged from the park, creating a hill for kids to run up and down. As part of the stormwater management, we established rain gardens along Woodward Ave for filtration, and a median to help people cross the busy street.

The Boyne City Waterfront was a project through the School of Planning, Design and Construction in partnership with the Michigan Municipal League. I worked directly with Karen Russcher as one of two design teams tasked with enhancing four parks to draw more people while increasing connectivity between them and downtown Boyne City. The two teams had different approaches, one was to design a more natural park experience and the other a more developed park system. It was my job on the team to create the SketchUp models and renderings after we collaborated to establish the design.

The goal for this project was to design an expansion of the Crystal Mountian Resort facilities. The goal of the expansion is to be as environmentally friendly as possible, providing a new year round activities including a new 18 hole course, ski slopes/luge slides, hiking/snowshoeing trails and disc golf. The expansion would include a new club house/wedding reception facility, and houses for rent.

The clients for this project wanted to construct a new headquarters on the property with a trail system for their employees to use. One of the trails had to be accessible, and then the possibility of a hiking or biking trail. This page shows the drainage for the parking lot and the driveway, as well as the pipe elevations. CB1
