WELCOME TO THE ALHAMBRA THEATRE PROGRAMME FOR 2017! 2017 is set to one of our most diverse programmes to date and sees the arrival of two huge West End Musicals to the theatre stage. Joseph, starring X Factor winner Joe McElderry, runs at the theatre from 19-23rd September. This glittering musical features classics such as Close Every Door, Any Dream Will do, and Those Canaan Days. This superb production of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s sparkling family musical continues on its record breaking tour. Catch the show at the Alhambra this September. In October, the wonderful Blood Brothers hits the stage from 23-28th for one week only. Direct from London’s West End, this is a production that is unmissable, and has audiences gripped from start to finish. This multi award winning musical is affectionately known as the ‘standing ovation musical’ with a musical score including Bright New Day, Marilyn Munroe and the emotionally charged Tell Me It’s Not True. The Alhambra Theatre Summer School returns from 17-29th July. The two week course, is led by Theatre Industry professionals teaching stage skills in acting, singing and dancing. The Alhambra Theatre Summer School is open to participants aged 8-18, culminating in a performance on the Alhambra Stage featuring excerpts of some of the World’s biggest musicals. In December, Panto Dame Billy Mack makes his return to the Alhambra stage in Jack and the Beanstalk, which runs from 8-27th December. Set in the Wild West, Jack and the Beanstalk is a traditional pantomime with a Wild West Twist. With an all star cast, dazzling special effects, superb costumes and full live orchestra. The Stage magazine last year referred to the Alhambra as being in ‘the premier league of Scottish pantomimes’ Yeeha! This April the Alhambra plays host to an Easter pantomime, Wizard of Oz, starring Bobby Davro, and Britain’s Got Talent stars Ashleigh and Pudsey. Why don’t you follow the yellow brick road to the Alhambra this April to see the performance. This year there is lots on for the children, or your inner big kid, as shows such as Stick Man Live on Stage, David Walliams First Hippo on the Moon, Horrible Histories, Funbox and Shark in the Park hit the stage. For music fans, this year sees shows such as Soul Legends, Magic of Motown, Ben Portsmouth as Elvis, The Bowie Experience, and T-Rextasy. Dance fans are catered for with shows such as Remembering Fred, with Strictly stars Aljaz and Janette, and the spectacular return of The Russian National Ballet with The Nutcracker in November. Comedians Milton Jones, Jimmy Carr, Jason Byrne, Reginald D Hunter and Sir Ken Dodd all bring their fantastic new tours in 2017 and are not to be missed. Thank you to our patrons for your continued support. We look forward to welcoming you to the Alhambra Theatre. Alhambra Theatre Team

Written by Willy Russell, the legendary BLOOD BROTHERS tells the captivating and moving tale of twins who, separated at birth, grow up on opposite sides of the tracks, only to meet again with fateful consequences. Few musicals have received quite such acclaim as the multiaward winning BLOOD BROTHERS. Bill Kenwright’s production surpassed 10,000 performances in London’s West End, one of only three musicals ever to achieve that milestone. It has been affectionately christened the ‘Standing Ovation Musical’, as inevitably it “brings the audience cheering to its feet and roaring its approval” (The Daily Mail). The superb score includes Bright New Day, Marilyn Monroe and the emotionally charged hit Tell Me It’s Not True. *A booking fee of £2.50 (price increase as of 1st May 2017) Will be applied to all tickets purchased from the Alhambra theatre box office.
