BRADLEY UNIVERSITY

THE BOOK OF IDEAS

This little book is filled with big ideas.

You have big things ahead of you. And big ideas about how to reach them. So, you're looking for a college that puts big ideas into action to do big things. At Bradley, putting big ideas in motion is what we do best. Ideas that make the unthinkable seem inevitable. That spark a million other ideas. That drive you to create something that outlasts you. That force you to reimagine the way things are done. That change countless lives in the process. Ideas like a mid-sized University in Peoria, Ill., that’s just as visionary today as the day it was founded.

We invite you to dive in and explore the Bradley experience. And to pay attention to the new ideas this book sparks in you.

Lydia Moss Bradley established Bradley Polytechnic Institute in 1897 — incorporating an existing watchmaking school — with an expanded mission including classical education, industrial arts, and home economics.

On October 4, 1897, fourteen faculty and 150 students began classes in Bradley Hall — while 500 workers finished the building.

Now with nearly 6,000 students and more than 185 programs, we build upon Lydia Moss Bradley’s progressive vision every single day.

H O N O R T H E P A S T, C R E A T E Y O U R F U T U R E . Our founder, Lydia Moss Bradley, broke boundaries to build a new model of education beyond the limitations of her day. She envisioned a university that balanced the liberal arts and sciences with professional training for well-rounded students not only to get ahead, but lead the way forward. Not just for the good of Peoria, but for the benefit of mankind. Today, we lead with that legacy as we educate students to fulfill that vision, cultivating individual minds for the good of all.

From classroom to classroom, department to department, college to college, even coast to coast, we strive toward building new connections between disciplines. Between student-run clubs and student-led classrooms. Between Bradley and industry’s biggest names. Some of the most exciting projects coming out of Bradley come from teams working across disciplines who bring their distinct knowledge to the table to create something incredible. Because if it’s worth doing on your own, it’s even better together.
