“Heartbreak High” - Season 2
Take on all the drama from down under when Season 2 of the Australian teen drama “Heartbreak High” premieres Thursday, April 11, on Netflix. A reboot of the original Network 10 series of the same name from the 1990s, this fresh look at the school from creators Hannah Carroll Chapman (“The Heights”), Ben Gannon (“Wildside”) and Michael Jenkins (“The Heartbreak Kid,” 1993) continues to follow the students of Hartley High as they navigate life’s many ups and downs. “What Jennifer Did” (2024)
A horrifying and violent tale that shook a small Canadian town comes to Netflix when “What Jennifer Did” makes its debut Wednesday, April 10. In November 2010, a frantic 9-1-1 call from a young woman named Jennifer Pan was the beginning of a series of complex events and investigations. After what appeared to be a home robbery gone wrong led to the death of Jennifer’s mother, Bich Ha, and left her father, Huei Hann, gravely injured, police soon discovered that Jennifer knew much more about the events of that night than she initially let on. Using police interrogation footage and testimony from those involved, “What Jennifer Did,” from director and writer Jenny Popplewell (“My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding”) unravels a tragic tale of family that went horribly wrong.
“Unforgotten” - Season 5
Prepare for Season 6 of acclaimed ITV crime drama “Unforgotten,” which just began filming, when the series’ fifth season debuts Monday, April 8, on Prime Video. Following (spoiler alert for those not yet caught up) the shocking death of DCI Cassie Stuart (Nicola Walker, “MI-5”) at the end of Season 4, newcomer Jessica James (Sinéad Keenan, “Being Human”) steps into the role as Detective Chief Inspector. However, Jessica’s plight to fill Cassie’s big shoes hits a road bump when human remains are found in a recently renovated house. Meanwhile, DI Sunny Khan (Sanjeev Bhaskar, “Yesterday,” 2019) balances his grief over Cassie’s death with adjusting to a new partner in Jessica. “Legend of the Lost Locket” (2024)
It’s a treasure hunt for true love in “Legend of the Lost Locket,” the newest made-for-TV movie from Hallmark, which makes its streaming debut Saturday, April 13, on Prime Video. “When Calls the Heart” co-stars Natasha Burnett and Viv Leacock turn in their wedding rings to star in this romantic drama. The movie follows Amelia (Burnett), an antiques expert from across the pond. Amelia is in search of a long-lost locket that has the power to bring its wearer true love, but she soon finds herself clashing with Marcus (Leacock), the town sheriff. However, what first starts out as conflict soon gives way to attraction. Directed by Kevin Fair (“Smallville”) and written by Michelle Ricci (“Frankie Drake Mysteries”), “Legend of the Lost Locket” also stars Samantha Cole (“V-Wars”), Kevin O’Grady (“This Means War,” 2012), Beverley Elliott (“The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants,” 2005), Andrea Stefancikova (“American Badger,” 2021), Hrothgar Mathews (“The Island Between Tides,” 2024), Isabel Birch (“Lost Ollie”), Zak Santiago (“Young Blades”), Nic Westaway (“Home and Away”), Lola Claire (“Bundy and the Green River Killer,” 2019) and Natalie Moon (“The Flash”).
“Bluey” – Season 3, New Episode
There’s always something to do when you’re a young dog who’s blue. “Bluey” returns with an all-new episode, “Ghostbasket,” premiering Sunday, April 7, on Disney+, ahead of the series’ release of an extended special episode the following week. During “Ghostbasket,” siblings Bluey and Bingo play dress up and take on their “Grannies” personas — Janet and Rita — and pretend-play as two grandmothers, while their own mother, Chilli, takes on the role of Monique. The fun won’t stop there for the family, as “The Sign” debuts on Sunday, April 14, sending Bluey, Bingo, Bandit and Chilli on a trip to take part in a massive celebration full of familiar family and friends. “The Sign” will feature the return of Patrick Brammall (“Colin from Accounts”) as Uncle Rad, Claudia O’Doherty (“Trainwreck,” 2015) as Frisky, Meg Washington (“Yellow Jack,” 2021) as Calypso, Myf Warhurst (“Spicks and Specks”) as Trixie and Rose Byrne (“Bridesmaids,” 2011) as Aunt Brandy, all joining the Heelers. Meanwhile, Rove McManus (“Rove Live”), Deborah Mailman (“The Sapphires,” 2012), Brendan Williams (“Goober”) and Joel Edgerton (“The Boys in the Boat,” 2023) make their debut as all-new characters to the franchise, adding to the excitement. As always, “Bluey” was written and created by Joe Brumm (“The Meek,” 2015) for the multiple Emmy Award-winning Ludo Studios, and also features the voice acting talents of David McCormack (“Five Bedrooms”) as Bandit and Melanie Zanetti (“Head Count,” 2023) as Chilli.
“The Incredible Dr. Pol” – Season 24
This “old schooler” is far from retiring: Dr. Jan Pol returns with more charisma and know-how than ever before in Season 24 of “The Incredible Dr. Pol,” making its streaming debut Wednesday, April 10, on Disney+. With all ten episodes available simultaneously, viewers can watch as this smiley, senior veterinarian helps animals big and small (though his focus is mainly on large farm animals). With a no-nonsense, no-questionsleft-behind attitude, “Doc” attends to emergency calls, handles a boom of baby goats and reindeer, and diligently attends to Michigan’s cats and dogs — even guiding a few tiny pocket-sized puppies into the world. This season, Doc and his wife, Diane, also welcome a Fiersian filly to their family farm, while the Dr. Pol Veterinary Services clinic welcomes a new hire in fellow veterinarian, Dr. Olivia. Through snowstorms and spring showers and holidays, Doc and his team allow cameras to follow as they keep our fuzziest, furriest and fluffiest friends safe.
“The Greatest Hits” (2024)
Experience the beauty of life through music and nostalgia with the new romantic comedy “The Greatest Hits,” premiering Friday, April 12, on Hulu. Music can often transport us to a different time and place, but for Harriet (Lucy Boynton, “The Politician”), life begins imitating art when she discovers that certain songs can transport her back in time — literally.
