The First Omen

In 1971, American novitiate Margaret Daino (Free) arrives in Rome at the Vizzardeli Orphanage as part of her training prior to taking her vows. There, she is introduced to the senior members of the church, including Cardinal Lawrence (Nighy), Father Gabriel (Barhom) and the Abbess, Sister Silva (Braga). Shortly after her arrival, Margaret attends a disco with her roommate and fellow novitiate Luz (Caballero), where she encounters a mysterious man and blacks out. As she begins to experience increasingly disturbing sights and violent encounters, Margaret is warned by Father Brennan (Ineson) about a conspiracy within the church to restore faith by bringing about the birth of the Antichrist.

The Boys in the Boat

In 1936, Joe Rantz (Turner) is an engineering student struggling to afford his tuition fees at the University of Washington. Unemployed, he lives in his car, barely able to scrape together enough money for the bare necessities. After hearing from fellow struggling student Roger Morris (Strike) that the rowing team comes with a job and boarding, the two boys try out and, despite not being rowers, make the junior varsity team. The team’s coach, Al Ulbrickson (Edgerton), is under pressure to beat their University of California, Berkeley, rival and make it to the 1936 Olympics. After Coach Ulbrickson takes a chance on the experienced but wilful Bobby Moch (Slattery), recruiting him as the team’s coxswain, UW’s eights rowing team proves themself a force to be reckoned with.
