Meg Donnelly, Julia Butters, Diedrich Bader, Katy Mixon and Daniel DiMaggio star in “American Housewife”
The show has made some waves, receiving criticism for a few of its jokes, including jabs at citizens of Newark, Westport’s real-life neighboring town. The show’s humor also relies heavily on stereotypes, although not the ones you would expect. Katie, for instance, often refers to her obnoxiously athletic neighbor as “Two-Fitbit Lady.”
In general, Katie sees herself as surrounded by rich and beautiful people who live perfect lives in perfect homes. She fights to find pride in her quirky family and is learning to be OK with their imperfections. Despite the criticism, this is one reason that the show has done so well: her issues and brand of humor are completely relatable with modern moms and housewives, who find comfort in sarcasm and humor in reality. rupted by Keith Proctor (Jaffrey), an investigative reporter who claims that the crash that ruined her life could not have been an accident, and was, in actuality, a terrorist attack covered up by the government. This revelation sends Stephanie on a mission that spans multiple continents and pits her against assassins, MI6 and the CIA. Running almost exclusively on Proctor’s case notes and the help of an exfederal agent (Law), Stephanie will see how close her grief and anger can get her to the truth.
So, if you’re dying for a break from the kids and looking for someone who understands what you’re going through, tune in to “American Housewife” on ABC. Check out the newest episode of this family comedy when it airs Wednesday, April 29.
