Sometimes, you can have your cake and eat it, too. OK, so you might have to bake (or buy — I won’t judge) your own, but if it’s just cake-focused TV shows you’re looking for — or, really, any sweets for that matter — then Monday nights on Food Network sure have you covered. Every week gets off to a sweet start with a night of dessert-filled shows, and this week’s new episodes of “Spring Baking Championship” and “Vegas Cakes” are welcoming a new arrival.

“Dallas Cakes” joins Food Net- the cakes on display here definitely give that old idiom a whiff of truth. Each episode finds three of the city’s most talented bakers creating edible art from flour, sugar, eggs and icing, with cameras following along for the entire process, from conception to delivery to the customer.

In this week’s premiere, a groom wants nothing more than a “Game of Thrones”-themed cake for his special day, and the result — an intricately detailed Iron Throne complete with a sculpted ice dragon — is so beautiful that someone could lose their head. Then, a block party celebrating the Chinese New Year wants a cake that really captures its 100th anniversary, and a milestone like that deserves a one-of-akind cake. With 24 layers of coffee cake molded into what might be the world’s largest edible belt buckle, the real challenge is transporting the gargantuan dessert from the bakery to the arena without it falling apart.

Things don’t get any less over the top in next week’s episode. With an incredibly lifelike five-foot-long alligator, a massive police badge celebrating one of Dallas’s finest, and even a realistic giant golf cart all being put together, the cakes on display here really are works of art worthy of their own TV show. Luckily, that show is easy to find. “Dallas Cakes” joins Food Network’s Monday night baking lineup on April 30. p.m. (2) KTCA America’s Test Kitchen From Cook’s Illustrated

Peter Rabbit

After his uncle’s death, Thomas McGregor (Gleeson) moves into his old house and begins refurbishing it in the hopes of selling it for a nice profit. First, though, he has to deal with the pesky wild animals that run rampant through the garden, including the annoying Peter Rabbit (Corden), who loves nothing more than digging up and eating all of the fresh vegetables. The war between man and rabbit gets personal, though, when Mr. McGregor begins to develop feelings for his neighbor, a beau- gime, and together the Americans and Afghanis fight side by side as they attempt to drive out their entrenched and violent enemy from the area. However, differences in both their cultures and in their ultimate goals create tension between the two groups and make the formation of a lasting alliance all but impossible. tiful young artist named Bea (Byrne), with whom Peter has his own warm, friendly relationship that quickly spirals into jealousy.
