Whodoesn’t have a bit of a sweet tooth? Sure, some of us have more of one than others, but almost everyone has their own favorite candies, sweet and treats.
For years on the Food Network, “Unwrapped” brought viewers a behind-the-scenes look at how some of their favorite sweet snacks and guilty food pleasures are made, and now the show is relaunching on the Cooking Channel. “Unwrapped 2.0” is reviving the popular format with its premiere Monday, Feb. 2, and not only is this relaunch on a new channel, but it also has an exciting new host.
Alfonso Ribeiro takes over from “Unwrapped’s” Marc Summers, and this TV star is no stranger to the screen. Most recently, he won the 19th season of “Dancing with the Stars,” but before that, his biggest claim to fame was starring opposite Will Smith in “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.”
Much like its predecessor, each episode of “Unwrapped 2.0” follows Ribeiro as he explores some of the most loved food products on grocery store shelves. He goes behind the scenes, examining the history of the foods, exploring the companies producing them and talking to the people responsible for crafting the perfect taste experience.
In one early episode, Ribeiro dives in head first with foods that are rolled. From fresh corn tortillas to crunchy pecan log rolls, he takes us on a behind-the-scenes journey that ends with a look at the most ubiquitous roll of them all — the famous Tootsie Roll.
More and more, consumers are interested in knowing exactly where the food they’re eating comes from. “Unwrapped 2.0” promises to be an entertaining and educational exploration of the foods that millions of us eat day in and day out.
If it’s true that “you are what you eat,” then “Unwrapped 2.0” might teach you a bit about yourself. The behind-the-scenes exploration of all things food premieres Monday, Feb. 2, on Cooking Channel.
