When Martha Stewart recently asked her Twitter followers whether she was “hip,” she was deluged with responses to the affirmative. That led us to look up the definition of the word – just to make sure we were all on the same page. It turns out that Webster’s defines it as, “aware of and interested in the latest trends.” So if you consider that Stewart virtually created the “how to entertain, style, cook, bake, grow” genre that dominates both cable and network television, she actually is hip. Technically.

And as “The Martha Stewart Show” enters its seventh season (and airs weekdays on Hallmark Channel), Stewart is as focused as ever on teaching viewers how to ... well, fill in the blank.

“We are the original how-to show,” Stewart says. “We continue with that theme, and this year is all about demystifying and uncomplicating.”
