Welcome to year four of Elemental, Limerick’s Arts & Culture Festival. Before we do anything else, we want to say a great big ‘thank you’ to all the people who supported our Indiegogo campaign. It really means a lot that you want to see Elemental happen again and are happy to add your contribution to the Elemental piggy bank. The programme has the usual mix of events, with something, we hope, to suit everyone from six to six hundred (no, really, we have it covered). We hope you’ll get to participate, smile, dance, be entertained, learn some new things, think some new thoughts, see Limerick in a new light. Hope to see you there! Jennifer Allen Artistic Director

A large scale ‘Ghost Sign’ project will also be created, with the involvement of local band The Cranberries, designed and hand-painted by Sean & Kayleigh Starr and Tom Collins.

installation Mary Conroy showcases the first of her new functional ceramic artworks. This installation consists of a number of smoke fired bird houses - a bird co-op of sorts! Smoke firing is an ancient method of creating surface embellishments on ceramic. The resulting smoke penetrates the ceramic body giving it an array of pattern and colour. These patterns make ideal camouflage for wildlife homes.

Parent or guardian must be in attendance for duration of the workshop.

‘Charolais‘ is an age-old tale of female rivalry with a new twist: the other woman is cow, a literal one, a purebred Charolais heifer. Siobhan’s boyfriend is a farmer who devotes considerable attention to his prize heifer at the expense of his very pregnant girlfriend. A dark comedy of love and longing: rarely in Irish theatre are the challenges of farming life and the joy of sex expressed so frankly or with such charm.
