Specifically focusing on using NATURAL formulations and organic ingredients where possible. These natural ingredients are carefully chosen and combined to feed the skin with essential nutrients and to help the skin function as it should. We avoid using parabens (artificial preservatives), colourants, petrochemicals and sulfur. None of the ingredients used, nor the final products have been tested on animals. Beaucience has been designed for the environmentally conscious consumer, keeping our carbon footprint as low as

possible. Beaucience’s manufacturing process carries a certification by the Soil Association standards of Organic Health and Beauty care products. OUR INSPIRATION As cosmetic scientists, we see many actives being used in products and the benefits they can achieve. This, together with new innovations in NATURAL antiageing skin care development, greatly inspired us. Inspired by the pea

In the entire anti-ageing range, we use revitalising peptide technology, Proteasyl PW. To understand Proteasyl, we need to understand the key functional properties of the skin: elasticity, suppleness & tonicity. On a physiological level, the skin is constantly undergoing anabolic (regenerative) processes & catabolic (detstructive) processes. However, the balance of these reactions can diﬀer according to the age of the individual. For example: • In a young person, the regenerative processes in the skin exceed the destructive ones, giving the skin a glowing appearance. • In an elderly person, the destructive processes in the skin exceed the regenerative ones, which thins the skin and causes sagging and wrinkles. Proteins are present in the Epidermal and Dermal layers of the skin. Examples of structural proteins in the dermal layer include collagen and elastin. Protease enzymes are capable of breaking down protein into peptides or their constituent amino acids. Beacause enzymes are specific, they are categorised depending on the type of protein that they act on. Therefore: • Collagenases break down collagen • Elastases break down elastin Since enzymes can be inhibited, both of these enzymes can be inhibited by anti-proteases (e.g. anti-collagenases and anti-elastases).

ABOUT PROTEASYL • A protector of dermal proteins. Effectively restores the balance between the breakdown and build up of the epidermal proteins, thus strengthening the skin and so provides an anti-ageing effect. It protects the collagen and elastin against the deleterious effects of proteases activated during ageing and stress. Proteasyl is able to boost the activity rate of the protein inhibitors in the skin, this helping to restore the balance between proteases and antiproteases. • It contributes to protection and repair of epidermal proteins. This will ensure effective differentiation, desquamation and moisturisation occurs, leading to healthy skin cell renewal in the epidermis. • Strengthens skin elasticity by boosting elastin synthesis. • Stimulates synthesis of macromolecules of the dermis, including type iii collagen (baby collagen) and glycosaminoglycans (GAGs). Since these macromolecules have the ability to draw water to them, they effectively plump the skin. • Long-lasting hydroregular ensuring that the skin is moisturises for prolonged periods.

This product includes a combination of naturally derived emulsifiers that contribute to form a luxurious emulsion that is easy to apply on baby skin. One of the emulsifiers is Olivem 1000 – a naturally derived emulsifier based on olive oil. This product includes:

• Sodium Cocoamphoacetate • Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate • Lauryl Betaine • Lauryl Glucoside Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate is a naturally derived anionic surfactant which cleanses effectively and foams impressively. It is nonirritating and mild on the skin and it is these properties that set this ingredient apart from other anionic surfactants on the market. This product includes Bamboo extract which is rich in silica. Silica is an important nutrient for the hair and skin. Bamboo extract is beneficial on baby’s skin as it assists in washing away dead skin cells together with other unwanted agents that can potentially build up on hair strands. Because of this function, it effectively adds shine to the hair. This natural baby wash is thus very mild and non-irritating on the skin.

Organic Marula Oil has been included in this formulation. Marula Oil is ultra moisturising and thus contributes to improved skin hydration and skin softness.
