Take a simple sewing project to the next level with digital creation tools available in our makerspaces. Learn how to sew a simple pencil case and use a 3D printer and vinyl cutter to make custom embellishments such as buttons, zipper pulls, and/or heat transfer vinyl designs. Space is limited. Assistive Technology with Makers Making Change

Hear how Makers Making Change leverages the capacity of community-based makers, disability professionals, and volunteers to develop and deliver affordable assistive technologies that enable people with disabilities to live more independently. The project uses emerging technology including Arduino microcontrollers, 3D printing, and laser cutting. Makers Making Change integrates the culture and communities that surround the open-source movement, the maker movement, and the crowdsourcing movement. Learn everything you need to know about how you can access affordable assistive devices, participate in this exciting project, and support your local community. Author and Digital Artist Talk with Natasha Khan Kazi

Join us for a discussion with author and digital artist Natasha Khan Kazi. Natasha will be sharing her experience getting started as a digital artist, building a specific art style, choosing a preferred medium, and building an online art community. She will then walk participants through a brief digital art activity. You are welcome to use your own device and stylus at home or bring it into the library for this live-streamed event. A limited number of library iPads and Apple Pencils will be available for those attending in person. Registration required.* Mount Pleasant Village Oct. 13 6:30–7:30 p.m.

Family Switch Build and Toy Hack with Makers Making Change

Join Makers Making Change for an exciting daylong adaptive toy workshop! You will learn how to build an electronic switch and adapt a batteryoperated toy to make it accessible for a child with physical or cognitive disability. The adapted toys will be donated to local community groups and children in need of affordable adaptive devices. This workshop is intended for families to attend together. There must be one adult per group, and participants must be at least eight years of age. A waiver is required. Registration required.* Light refreshments will be provided. Girl Powered with Brampton Robotics

Children and teens

A special event celebrating women in robotics, STEM, and the International Day of the Girl. Learn the fundamentals of robotics and participate in a robot build. Not just for girls — everyone is welcome to participate. Chinguacousy Oct. 16 1–3 p.m.

TechCollect Drive

Help reduce the digital divide! Brampton Library in partnership with Let’s Get Together invites you to drop off your used, broken, and unwanted laptops, cell phones, and other electronic devices. Donations will be safely recycled or refurbished and circulated back to the community to support individuals and families in need.
