The Patti Story Patti Pavilion is a landmark building which is loved by the People of Swansea, which was previously owned by Dame Adelina Patti, who in the 1870’s was the most famous opera singer in the world. She was a lady of beauty and a voice that enchanted prince and pauper alike. Adelina built the original pavilion as her ‘winter garden’ retreat which she used to entertain guests from all over the world. In 1917, Adelina donated the pavilion to the People of Swansea and hoped that they too would enjoy its beauty and pleasure as once she enjoyed. In the late 1990’s this beautiful building went into disrepair and soon became unusable. The famous Anneka Rice with her show ‘Challenge Anneka’ tried her up-most to bring the beauty and life back to this historic build but alas she did not succeed. 2007 saw the Patti get its new face lift after years of neglect. The multi million pound refurbishment enabled people to enjoy the beauty of Victoria Park and Swansea Bay, home of the Patti since 1917. Also, a modern glazed restaurant area was created with breathtaking views and scenes so the people of Swansea can dine in majesty whilst appreciating the lovely natural beauty that we are blessed with.
