WELCOME TO
MINNEAPOLIS GREETINGS FROM YOUR EXECUTIVE OFFICERS I could not be more excited to gather with you at the 2019 Central Region Leadership Conference (CRLC) in Minneapolis. There is no better place for us to come together as emerging leaders and entrepreneurs! During the three-day conference we will grow together by broadening our networks and knowledge in marketing, finance, hospitality and management through workshops and leadership training! In addition, you are bound to have a great time with tours to the Mall of America and US Bank Stadium! One of my favorite quotes comes from Professor Michael J. Bugeja of Iowa State University who says, “Education is a lifelong experience. Experience is a lifelong education. Education plus experience equals expertise.” This is true of DECA as a whole, but especially the Central Region Leadership Conference that each of us will be attending. CRLC will provide us with education plus experience to prepare us to become experts in our respective career paths and DECA events. I am honored to share this educational experience with you. The Central Region maintains a reputation of excellence thanks to each member - each member just like YOU! There is no need to wait until after this conference to start being an active DECA member. Go out into your communities and start forming connections with business professionals now! Start leading and making a difference within your chapter now! Get excited because the Central Region is gathering in Minneapolis now!
are thirteen associations with one goal in mind – greatness! For the Central Region… “All Eyes North” and together we are #CRStrong! Each of us will leave CRLC energized and ready to tackle the remainder of the DECA year! Central Region #HereWeGo. See you in Nashville!

THE JOURNEY IS THE DESTINATION
JD Cummings, VP of Recruiting - Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers A different perspective on the notion that “the journey is just as important as the destination”. This workshop will focus on advice for young professionals about how you develop as a professional and as a leader at every step of your career journey. To reach your full potential, it is important to understand that much of how you develop comes from the experiences you are exposed to along the way. We often place happiness on the cognitive horizon where we have programed our minds to think that we will only be happy when… “I get into my first choice school” or “I get a car” or “I get my dream job” or “I get that promotion” instead of finding happiness in what we are experiencing in the present and stopping to recognize the things we are learning along the way. Focusing on the journey and finding contentment in our current situation will often result in much better outcomes and make the journey much more enjoyable along the way.
