Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture Seattle, WA - 2014 The Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture is located in Seattle, WA. The contents of the museum are artifacts relating to the native americans of the NW and the natural history of the NW. The museums location on the Seattle waterfront has the potential to use the naturual landscape as a way to help tell the story about the artifacts in the museum. 3 main ideas drove the design of museum: blurring the line between land and sea, create a public space which connects people to the waterfront, and integrating native american values / nature into the program.

NW Portland Branch Library 2013 The physical experience of reading and the materiality of the book is vital to the spatial organization of the library. “Book Towers, are used to define reading rooms and enclose private / back of house functions. Public spaces are defined by the 3 story tall walls of books. In between these walls the public can gather in varying scaled rooms to read in private or in groups. The massing of the building is broken down into dimensions which are familiar to the historic neighborhood. The street is activated by adding retail spaces along 21st ave. and putting the main rooms of the library on the second floor.

Beaverton Performing Arts Center 2012 Given the size of the site, landscape design was the starting point for this project. The agricultural history of Beaverton helped influence the site organization and determine the spatial organization of the building. “Rows,” of landscape were organized on the site in a north south orientation setting up a foundation for the building. Walls are placed on top of these “Rows,” of landscape to define interior and exterior spaces. On top of these walls are transparent volumes which bring in light during the day and glow at night. The building and landscape are integrated into a continious spatial experience.

Furniture Design 2008-2012 Building furniture is an interest of mine because it allows me to realize my ideas relating to tectonics, composition, form, and nature.
