TARGET USER 1-2 year old have a short attention span with toys but they enjoymatching colours, shapes and animals with a “hands-on” approach

What are parents looking for? Parents look for the safety, educational value and size of the product when purchasing a toy Parents don’t often associate Wilko with toys and wouldn’t visit there specifically to buy toys

Playtime is around the clock, always playing whether it’s bath time or bedtime Animal noises help with speech Drawing helps recognize colours Sorting toys help with motor skills

MAKE DO A SERVICE BASED SOLUTION FOR STUDENTS TO REUSE CLOTHING

03_MAKE_DO

03_ This environmental based project aims at tackling the throw away culture seen amongst students. 80’s punk culture and the ‘Make Do and Mend’ movement in the 40’s have influenced the service and pairing app presented.

HOW IT WORKS

Students bring their tarnished clothes to shop

Trained staff will show the customer how to fix their clothes

Students now have the knowledge to repair their own clothes rather than disposing of them

FASHION AND TEXTILES

INTERVIEW

I’m always repairing clothes for my friends, it only takes a few minutes with no effort at all. I think that people have just forgotten how to repair clothes over time.

70% “YES”

HAVE YOU EVER TRIED TO MEND CLOTHING? STUDENT QUESTIONNAIRE

RESEARCH MAKE DO AND MEND short supplies of rations during WW2 encouraged women to tackle the issue by learning how to make and mend their own clothes

Punks have always had to resort to making their own clothes seeing as shops didn’t sell their style. everything was custom.

KANYE WEST Modern fashion is being influenced by music more than ever with ‘DIY’ styled fashion lines of “YEEZY”

PLANT POT AIR FRESHENER 04_PLANT_POT_AIR_FRESHENER

04_ This project aimed to reinvent the plant pot by implementing an air freshener into it’s base to disperse a scent of choice in an indoor environment

Water drains from the soil and is filtered to remove dirt particles using the fine mesh insert

A small hole in the plastic plate allows for water to be dripped slowly onto the air freshener

Mains vents can be found on the side of the product where the scent escapes

The airflow can be controlled by adjusting the inner vents to open or close ventilation

The bottom plate where the air freshener sits can be opened to replace or clean the air freshener
