Hello Polar Bears! This month has a lot in store. District Convention is quickly approaching where I will be retired as Lieutenant Governor and Danica will be inducted. This year has been amazing, and, if I’m being honest, I am quite emotional about ending my term. The friendships I have made and the journeys I have went on because of this position will stay with me for life. With that said, many of your terms as officers are ending too. I hope you are able to reflect on your progress and be proud of what you’ve done for your club and even division. Make sure to pass on everything you’ve learned to next year’s officer board, they will need your guidance to be successful in their position. We have come so far this year and it is all because of this division’s amazing officers and members continuously contributing. I sincerely thank you for one of the best years of my life.
Since I have been elected as the new Lieutenant Governor of Division 70, I have learned many new things about Key Club and about teamwork; I have learned about responsibilities and having set standards to reach. So, in order to keep and maintain D70’s greatness that Mr. Brandon Orick has passed down to me, I have set a couple divisional and personal goals for myself by which I will follow. My first goal for my term is that I will work hard to look and think of fundraising opportunities. As a community service based club, it is not necessary to have money, but knowing and having financial support is a great way to open more doors to do bigger projects down the road. My second goal is that I would like increase DCM attendance. In my little time training with Brandon, I have come to the conclusion that it is very difficult to have DCMs with high and consistent attendance. While I understand that we are all busy people, I also understand that Key Club is about being in something more than just your own home club, and in order to fully see the impacts of your service, to feel connected to a community that shares your same values and to see the grandness of Key Club, going to DCMs is one of the best ways to do so. That is why I will try my personal best to strategically hold DCMs to where many schools can come together at one time. And my third, but certainly not last goal for my term is that I will try my best to be present in our division. I will try my best to be there when clubs are struggling, be there when anyone has a question and to do my own homework when I do not know or understand something that can be of value of my fellow Key Clubbers. I hope that everyone will feel comfortable asking me anything whenever they need help. I am here to help everyone and I believe that we can learn and grow together. I am very excited to work hard with everyone in D70 and to serve our community together. I cannot wait to meet everyone and make some new friends; I know that we all will get along because Key Clubbers are cool. And I just can't wait to get this party started and see where we can go.
Before the Awards Banquet started, a service DCM was held where members and officers worked together to write letters of appreciation directed towards men and women who have served our country and/or community. At the Awards Banquet, officers and clubs were recognized for outstanding work within the division. Awards were distributed to attendees who received recognition. Dinner was served on the Willamette Queen, a boat in Salem, provided to us by Salem Kiwanis.
