Aaron Richardson received the 2008 Stratton Staff Award, the top honor bestowed on a Center for Veterinary Health Sciences staff member. The award, established upon the retirement of Dr. Louie Stratton in 1989, recognizes outstanding employee contributions and service.
Richardson, infor mation technology supervisor, graduated from the OSU Spears School of Business with a bachelor’s in business administra tion and a minor in marketing in May 1999 and began work ing at the veterinary center the following September.
According to Dr. Michael Lorenz, dean of the center, faculty and staff respect Rich ardson’s helpful attitude, his ability to solve computer issues and his talent in designing and imple menting the center’s website.
“I was completely overwhelmed that peo ple here thought enough of my work at the veterinary center to nominate me. Then to actually win was over the top,” Richardson says. “I haven’t stopped smiling yet.”
Brandon Dutton is the summer 2008 recipient. He demonstrated a tireless work ethic and a desire to provide the best possible outcome, spending up to 20 hours per day with his patients.
Levi Dykes is the fall 2008 recipient. He exhibits a constant desire to learn, often caring for his patients even when he is not on call. One weekend he performed radiographs, helped with a CT scan and assisted in spine surgery on a white-tailed deer. He also took intensive care of the buck after the surgery.
Renee Mead is the spring 2008 recipient. Clients nominated her for her care and compassion while their dog was at the hospital. On the night of the dog’s surgery, she let the owners come back twice to feed him and walk him. According to the owners, this lowered the dog’s stress level as well as their own.
