CONCEPT STATEMENT
FIREWORK To console the idea of the Firework that can last forever, the entire interior space has been designed into the process of shooting firework. The fixtures are showing the shooting platform, the motion trail of shooting, and the explosion of the firework. The basic finishes of the interior unlike the traditional idea; white reflecting surface will be the major color tone instead, which will able to reflect the lighting from the ceiling and creating the various colors brought by the LED lighting. On the other hand, using unique material to transform the concept of the explosion and combining with the ambient LED lighting behind it. The customers can stay in the moment of the firework explosion and enjoy the delightful shopping time. This has consider as the basic and the most important factor in this project.

SITE ANALYSIS
The address of the site is 369 grant avenue, San Francisco, CA 94108 which is located next to China Town and the Union Square shopping area. The location is at the corner of the street that allow the store to have two sides of display windows, but due to the slope of the street, the exterior of the north side does not have enough space to build entire window. The site is located in San Francisco area, considering about the weather and the district is famous on tour area, the materials should use changeable in order to rotate by the damage of the weather and the touching from the people. The area is described as full with other brands and unique stores, how to create the special atmosphere that can attract customers walk in become one of the design challengesw.

CONCEPT STATEMENT
DISCOVERING When people read, they are discovering the new and past knowledge at same time; to those people, reading is like adventures allow them exploring various places but without leaving thier seats. Discoevring is not limited in just knowledge, it is also involved with the self-discovering. When people read more, they know themselves more, helping them to realize what kind of people they really are. Discovering can also be regonized as seaking. Seaking the truth, seaking the mysteries, how to develop a way to find the easist pathway to the goal you want to achieve. Discovery is not really about independent or group work; however, when you discuss with others about your discovering, you are having interaction with others, you are not just the person siiting in the corner and read anymore.

SITE ANALYSIS
Alexander bookstore is located at the two different districts, SOMA and financial district. The two different districts are having differnt kind of customer resources; nevertheless, the majority of the customers are still the people around the llocation. Luckily, there are not a lot of competiter around Alexander bookstore, the major three are Golden Gate University Bookstore (Blue), Thomas A. G oldwasser R are Books (Green) and Brick Row Book Shop (Brown). Due to the working hours of the surrounding area, the majority of the customers do not visit Alexander bookstore after they finish their works; it is important to consider interesting features to attract them. Using interesting features can also attract the tourists, attracting them to stop their steps and visit the store. Providing enough seating to allow the customers can stay longer when they visit the store.

Original Brand & Logo The original Brand and logo do not give the customers enough impression when they visit Alexzander Books; as matter of fact, the only place that logo shows up is on the name card and the front page of the website. Therefore, the designer has decide simplify the logo into just words, and using unique materials to impress the customers.
New Brand & Logo The New Logo is based on the shape of the book and represents the “A as Alexander for the bookstore. In addition, using LED fixture allows the logo glowing at nighttime. Others like the word font for bookstore, the designer chose a playful but do not without serious feeling to present the store image.

The gallery intends to showcase two or three pieces of prized Stickley furniture that will rotate frequently, as well as a range of other Stickley-crafted objects that will be on permanent display.

USER ANALYSIS
BREAKTHROUGH As the pioneer of the Arts and Crafts movement, Gustav Stickley established many concepts and thinking that allow the coming generation to follow. For any person who is willing to try or break the limit they have right now, Gustav Stickley definitely is the model for them, learning the courageous and the brave from him. Breakthrough is the beginning of the new awareness and idea, not just for the movement of something, but more important, is the breakthrough toward us. On the both sides of the school and the students, as the image of the traditional school tries to step forward and encourage students to challenge themselves, this gallery will be a new page for the education of the school.
56
MODERN DESIGN
SITE ANALYSIS
Cranbrook Academy has been educated for thousands of artists, being a represented art school it located in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Based on the requirement from school, the school is planing to construct a galley to memorize the contribution of Gustav Stickley. The enclosed space for gallery should be approximately 250 square feet in size. The Cranbrook Academy might consider the idea of a small porch or vestibule. On materials, they ask brick and timber have to be massively used. Nevertheless, other campus buildings are made mostly of simple brick, and create a lasting and timeless scene. The site plan uses courtyards and passages according to classical principles. Although the buildings may look "traditional," Cranbrook is looking for a contemporary design for the pavilion.

From the chart, we can realize that Bloomfield Hills, Michigan snows during the winter; therefore, the designer should think about the solution for this. Another thing should be noticed is the angle of the sun during winter time, the sun will directly spot into interior space, designer should come up with resolution as well.

Axel Vervoodrt Interior Wabi-sabi is simple, slow, unbalance, irregular, if an object can bring us the feeling of peaceful in our mind and pursue the people to seek a higher level, then we can call it as wabi-sabi. To present it in the design, Axel Vervoordt reflects the idea in his love of poor, "ugly" objects, like a shepherd’s rough-hewn table or a raku tea bowl.
