1
2
What is Armchair Advocates? The Armchair Advocates programme is designed to support and encourage Black and minority ethnic people over 50 to develop the skills and confidence to get more involved in the decisions that affect them. Run by brap, Armchair Advocates provides training on online communication, how to voice opinions, social media, and a range of other skills. We’re also working with older people to increase their involvement in consultations where and how they want. As part of this programme, we’ve put together this guide which shows: the nature of current consultation and engagement opportunities (e.g. online, questionnaire, meeting. etc) how to contact organisations that are implementing their duty to enable public involvement through feedback or complaints channels
Use this guide to streamline the search for:
how, where, and who to contact to share your views links to organisations’ websites telephone numbers named persons/positions in organisations (contact an organisation for a one-off engagement or to join a public forum)

Crime
An estate walkabout is where housing staff and tenants come together on a joint inspection in the neighbourhood to identify areas that need repairing or improving. During estate assessments, which happen twice a year, the group does a walkabout and scores the standard of the local neighbourhood and its services. Walkabouts take place every four weeks.
There are lots of ways that you can get involved: Community meetings in your neighbourhood Join a local Neighbourhood Watch scheme Give information about crime anonymously to Crimestoppers (isn`t the police, but an independent charity working to fight crime)
