One of “America’s most satisfying—and most enterprising—quartets” (Los Angeles Times) lifts a glass to Beethoven in a program inspired by Arietta Wine. This program features a luminous piece by Hillborg, closely connected with Beethoven’s last piano sonata, followed by the sonata itself, and closing with a breathtaking romp through Beethoven’s last “Razumovsky” quartet.

This fascinating evening of “musical moments” opens with the exciting young Aeolus Quartet in works by two contemporary masters and a glorious unfinished single-movement work. The Calder Quartet takes over the second half with a set of miniature musical homages and Schubert’s poetic, anguished masterwork.
