With just a handful of musicians on the stage, and a socially distanced, masked audience in an outdoor venue, the Thursday Evening Chamber Concerts took on remarkable intimacy and intensity. Live streaming expanded access to virtuoso performances of beloved repertoire for a global audience.

IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCES

As a new series in 2020, listeners immersed themselves in Beethoven's complete sonatas for violin and piano. Bravo! Vail's Artistic Director, Anne-Marie McDermott and Bravo's founding Artistic Director, Ida Kavafian performed the sonatas in their entirety over three consecutive days. Pre-concert lectures and artist talkbacks added to the fascinating journey into one of the most innovative and influential composers of all time.

“Brilliant performances by all musicians which made a marvelously delightful experience for us listeners!”

CHAMBER CONCERT ATTENDEE

“Coming back to Bravo! would be an exhilarating experience for me under any circumstances but taking part in the 2020 reimagined festival was nothing short of extraordinary. We have all missed live music so very much during this pandemic, but leave it to an amazing staff and incredible Artistic Director to make it possible to share our art again. Thank you to Anne-Marie, Caitlin and the entire staff for regrouping so brilliantly and handling every detail of a challenging undertaking. Stepping out on the stage of the Ford Amphitheater was a feeling I will never forget. Thank you all for this opportunity and Bravo to Bravo!”

“I salute the management of the Bravo! Vail Festival and Anne-Marie McDermott for taking the brave step to present live music. It felt safe and an appropriate response to people who are hungry for music and were able to attend. I thank you all for including me and hope next year to see many more people when I return to the festival.”
