Getting to Bray couldn’t be simpler as the town has a substantial public transport network, both north from Dublin and south from County Wicklow and County Wexford.

TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Road closures will be in place on St. Patrick’s Day (March 17th) from 2pm until after 4pm to facilitate the St. Patrick’s Day Bray Parade.

Roads affected include:

Bird’s EuroShow Funfair makes a welcome return to Bray Seafront this spring and will open from Thursday, March 14th. Top class family entertainment is guaranteed with lots of kiddie rides and family attractions.

Over the long weekend you can enjoy plenty of events including a funfair, an open-air céilí, puppet shows, street theatre, walks, trails and of course the main event the Festival Parade or simply catch some traditional Irish live music at one of the many venues throughout the town.

Catch some toe-tapping live music with Ian Brennan playing in The Martello at 9 pm while Paul McDonald is at The Old Anchor from 9:30 pm.

HISTORICAL TALK

The Bray parade is one of the largest on the east coast and again this year we are expecting thousands to line the town’s streets. Watch creative acts, floats, the pageantry, colour, music, dance and entertainment from the many participants. This year’s Grand Marshal is Michael Kelleher. The well-loved librarian retired recently, with more than 40 years of service to the people of Bray.

ST. PATRICK’S DAY OPEN AIR CONCERT

Church of the Most Holy Redeemer – Saturday, March 16th at 3 pm

The Bandstand – Sunday, March 17th from 4 pm

Join Brian White from the Bray Cualann Historical Society and hear the story from the Church of the Most Holy Redeemer’s beginnings. Sign up for free at www.bray.ie.

Soak up the atmosphere after the St. Patrick’s Day parade and watch a live concert from Glen Ridge High School Marching Band who are visiting from New Jersey.

The St. Patrick’s festivities continue with some topnotch live music from The Boomerang Brass Band (UK) at Goldsmiths Pub from 8.30pm, Van Archer is in The Martello at 9 pm, catch Peadar Gill Duo at Butler & Barry from 9:30 pm, Robbie and Hannah play at The Old Anchor at 10 pm while Bangers, Mash and The Relations play the Boomerang Bar from 10 pm.

Dust off those hiking boots and get hiking this St. Patrick’s Weekend. Take in some of the most stunning views of Bray and surrounding areas with a guided walk with Bray Adventures up and around the amazing Bray Head. Book early at www.bray.ie

BRAY VINTAGE CAR DISPLAY Opposite the Bandstand – Monday, March 18th from 2 pm to 4 pm

The Bray Vintage Car club will be showcasing some of their members beautiful classic and vintage cars.

Finish the weekend off by catching a concert by the Boomerang Brass Band (UK) as they pay tribute to the late Patrick Murphy (1935-2018). The Boomerang Band will show their appreciation for the role Paddy has played in introducing, promoting and facilitating the band over the past 5 years during the St. Patrick’s Day celebration in March. Initially, Paddy was instrumental in organising various performance opportunities in Bray for the young musicians from the Rochdale Music Service, the first being in 2004, The RM Concert Orchestra.

Brian White of the Bray Cualann Historical Society will conduct a walking tour of Bray Main Street. The tour will trace Bray’s links with the shamrock, serpents, patriotic visitors and events that occurred in Bray during St Patrick’s week since it was made a public holiday in 1903. There are limited spaces for walks & talks so make sure you register early at www.bray.ie.
