The Five Themes of Geography in South Korea
Introduction The five themes of geography is a great source for social studies. And believe it or not, we can use the five themes of geography in South Korea. So I am going to explain how the five themes of geography all interact with South Korea.
Movement In South Korea there is a lot of ways to travel for both people and goods. For people, they travel by subways, trams, busses and airplanes. Goods also travel by railroads, ferries and airplanes. In South Korea there are also some imports and exports too like: petroleum, electrical machinery, apparatus, appliances, electrical parts, food, live animals, and natural gas machinery, motor vehicles (most likely automobile motors), steel, ships, textiles and clothing. Finally, there are major social movements in South Korea like: Bu-Ma Democratic Protests, the Korean Wave, and Saemaul Undong.
Region If you did not already know, South Korea does not have a region. South Korea is its own region. Also, there are not any states in South Korea but, they do have provinces, nine of them to be exact. The nine provinces that are in South korea are: North Chungcheong, South Chungcheong, Gangwon, Gyeonggi, North Gyeongsang, South Gyeongsang, North Jeolla, South Jeolla, and Jeju Special Self-Governing Province. Depending on the season, South Korea’s climate changes. In the winter, it is long, cold and dry but, in the summer, it is short hot and humid. Finally, the spring and the fall both are short in duration.
Location If you want to know where South Korea is, then I can tell you. As you know, South Korea is south from North Korea but, it is also east from Japan and west from China. Although, if you want to be really pacific then South Korea is 35.9078째 N, 127.7669째 E or if you want to round it, then it is about 36째 north and about 128째 east.
Human Environment Interaction Just like the Yin Yang (the korean symbol representing opositits colliding), there is both a positive and a negative. So, the only positive human environment interaction in South Korea is wind power. Also, there are some negative human environment interactions and they are: air pollution and nuclear power. There are also some natural resources found in South Korea and they are: coal, tungsten, iron ore, molybdenum, limestone, and graphite and trees but, they are being largely striped.
Place South Korea has many breathtaking physical features and some of them are: the Hallasan, the Nakdong River, the Taebaek Mountain, the Geum River, and the Sobaek Mountain. Now, if there are physical features then there are also human features. Some examples of human features in South Korea are: the Bugeun-ri Dolmens, the Gocheon-ri Dolmens, the Ogeum-dong, the Jungnim-ro Dolmens, and the Hyosan-ri Dolmens. To be honest, my favorite part about South Korea is the culture. The language that is spoken in South Korea is pretty obvious, korean. In South Korea, there are also some very famous religions celebrated such as: the belief of Christ (Christianity), the belief of Buddha (Buddhism), the belief of Confucius (Confucianism) and finally the belief of Allah (Islam). Every region has their own way of dressing and South Korea’s traditional dressing is the Habock. Also something cool about South Korea is the food they eat and some of them are: rice, kimchi, soup, vegetables and roasted meat and fish. Traditions are known as a celebration, and South Korea has a lot of traditions. For example: Seollal (South Korean New Year), Daeboreum (the first full moon), Dano (a spring festival), and Chuseok (a harvest festival). One more cool thing is that the Yin Yang represents the darkness and the light having a balance. More dark or more light will make the balance unstable.
Conclusion We talked about a lot of things in South Korea. I hope after reading this will make you like South Korea too. It still surprises me that the five themes of geography can relate to South Korea. I am really glad that you took the time to read about how the five themes of geography.
