Focuses on the techniques used for welding pipe. The shielded metal arc welding process is used to perform practice welds on pipe diameters from 2 to 12 inches. Basic pipe-fitting practices will be demonstrated using butt weld and socket weld fittings to progress through learning to weld pipe in horizontal and vertical positions. One-on-one coaching, welding demonstrations and welding videos will be used to illustrate the techniques the student must follow to successfully pass the 6G qualification test.

This advanced level machining course explains the operation of the manual lathe in regards to inside and outside machining practices. This will include: turning safety, lathe controls, single-point threading, tapping, fits and tolerances, measurement, process control, tooling and lathe set-up. Proper set-up and use of a four-jaw chuck will be demonstrated and explained. Many lathe operations use tooling with carbide inserts, but a machinist must know the proper technique for grinding the surfaces of a solid carbide lathe tool and applying the proper rake angles. Tool grinding is discussed and demonstrated. There will be a NIMS Chucking project as well as a NIMS online exam (Chucking) to earn NIMS credentials.

ASL and Deaf culture will be explored through conversations about home and school life for the Deaf and hard of hearing. BEEKEEPING: AN INTRODUCTION

Come learn the basics of beginning beekeeping! Bring your curiosity and questions and you’ll get an overview of BRCC’s apiary and learn how you might start your own hive. This Introductory class will provide local networking opportunities. The spring class that follows provides in-depth techniques and knowledge of the care of bees. The Spring class includes a textbook, The Beekeeper’s Handbook, to move you forward in the world of beekeeping.

NEW QUILTING: BEGINNING YOUR QUILTING JOURNEY

Make a quilt from start to finish with this beginning quilt class. You’ll learn about tools, fabric selection, cutting techniques, construction, and finishing. THEATRE WORKSHOP FOR YOUTH: GHOST SHIP

In this humorous and thrilling murder mystery where no one actually dies, passengers are tricked into boarding a passenger ship to a getaway vacation in the Bahamas. Soon, they realize that there is no captain of the ship and they are stuck at sea with an unknown maniac seeking revenge on all of them. Not knowing who to trust, the passengers must work together to make a plan of escape before it’s too late. Loosely based on Agatha Christie’s novel, this parody features fun characters, plot twists, and a huge surprise ending that will stretch every young performer’s ability to dive into comedy and characters unlike any they have ever played before.
