Project Focus A5: Engine House On August the 9th, we officially opened the Engine House, with a fantastic launch event, attended by project partners, the construction team, and the volunteers who have been involved in delivering this exciting project. We’d like to thank everyone who has helped make the Engine House project a reality and hope that many of you will be able to use the space as a great venue for your events. See over for details of prices and how you can book it for free if you are a not for profit or charity organisation.

At the launch, we presented volunteers Ronald and John Bowes with framed piston rings from the Ruston & Hornsby single cylinder engine that used to power the machinery in the Engine House as a thank you for all their help in uncovering the history of the building. The piston rings were discovered hanging on a nail in the Engine house, in the place that Ronald remembered his father hanging them back in the late 1920s! The remaining ones are still hanging on that same nail, and have a small plaque telling their story. Looking down at the newly installed well lighting
