special delivery! A tiny baby elephant is the latest addition to Midlands based visitor attraction, Twycross Zoo! In the early hours of the morning on Tuesday 4th March, 18 year old Noorjahan, one of Zoo’s four Asian elephants, gave birth to a healthy female calf after a hefty 22-month long pregnancy! Dr Charlotte Macdonald, Head of Life Sciences, said: “The calf was born at approximately 2.30am and was up on its feet after a matter of minutes. The infant has bonded very well with mum, who is doing an exceptional job of taking care of her.” The young calf will suckle an incredible 11-litres of milk a day from her mother until she is approximately 12-months old, after which she will also begin to take solids such as vegetables, fruit and hay. When she reaches adulthood, just like her mum, she will be munching her way through four bales of hay, several buckets of vegetables and fruit and numerous gallons of water a day to wash it all down! Sarah Chapman, Head of Veterinary Services, commented: “We have a natural all female family herd at Twycross and so Noorjahan was artificially inseminated. “This birth was another herd birth at Twycross Zoo with the mother having access to different substrates and lots of space, with

the rest of the herd close at hand for support. The herd’s behaviour was monitored by the vet and animal teams via CCTV and it was good to see that all members of the herd were very excited by the new arrival and very interested in the infant. The birth was very quick which is great for both Noorjahan and the calf. The calf was able to stand with the help of her mother and that fact that she was on a deep bed of sand helped her soft feet to grip for her to take her first steps. All the females continue to take a huge interest in the calf and are very protective of her. This is perfectly natural, with Aunties playing a very important “babysitting” role in the natural herd structure.” Asian elephants are classified as an ‘endangered’ species on the IUCN Redlist of Threatened Species, and their numbers in the wild are suffering severely due to habitat destruction and poaching from the ivory trade.
FREE PASS FOR FAMILY OF 4 25th April 14
The young calf has yet to receive a name, but is now on view to the public at Twycross Zoo!

over the rainbow FAMILIES AND STAFF AT EAST MIDLANDS CHILDREN’S HOSPICE THRILLED AS DAVID WALLIAMS BECOMES PATRON Mr Walliams visited the East Midlands’ only children hospice last month, and was so moved by the families he met and the work of the charity, he wanted to get on board. The children, young people, families and staff at Rainbows are all overjoyed to have his valued support. Mr Walliams said: “I am thrilled to become a patron for Rainbows. It’s a very special place with incredibly inspiring people. I have recently been to the hospice and met some of the children and their families. They have to deal with so much and Rainbows is there for them with smiles, laughter and lots of care and support. I was so moved by the positive atmosphere, that I wanted to get involved. It will be my pleasure to help raise awareness of this charity to help all of the children, young people and families.” Geoff Ellis, chief executive at Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People, added: “To have Mr Walliams on board is very exciting and we are extremely happy that he has pledged his support to us; we are delighted to welcome him as our newest patron. We are very grateful to all of our patrons and ambassadors for the wonderful work they do for Rainbows and for promoting the charity all over the UK. When Mr Walliams visited last month, everybody loved him and we appreciated him spending valuable time with our children, young people and their families.” Mr Walliams first heard about Rainbows when Susan Taylor very sadly lost her life swimming the English Channel for Rainbows last year. Although he didn't know Susan personally, Mr Walliams was very touched by her story and donated to Rainbows through her Virgin Money website as well as sending messages to Mrs Taylor’s family. Rainbows cares for 288 children and young people with life-limiting and terminal illnesses as well as supporting 249 bereaved families and 521 siblings. Through its outreach efforts into East Midlands paediatric oncology units, Rainbows is also caring for a growing number of the region’s children with cancer. Hello and welcome to Sparkling Cleaning Services. “My name is Sarah and I've set up a service which will hopefully take the pressure off any household or daily duties that you find hard or simply don't have the time for. I've started this business with the help of my partner to combine my passion for helping people and providing a honest and reliable service which at the same time gives me the opportunity to spend time with my five year old son which in the past I have missed out on being in a full time role working long hours and late nights. I'm always happy to answer any questions on my work. Currently living and working locally I'm looking to take on more work and so far received nothing but praise. taxing month With recent changes in the budget and expectations of how far our finances will stretch these days, we meet up with three businesses that can offer you sound advice on where to spend your money and invest in your future....
The legal formalities that surround making a will and planning for your future can often be intimidating, and it may seem like a daunting task; but it doesn’t have to be that way. With J M Wills & Legal Services Ltd, the whole process can be carried out in the comfort of your own home. Owner Jan Woolley has over sixteen years’ experience in the field, and a background as a lawyer, so she has the expert knowledge to give reliable advice and assistance in this complex area – all without the jargon! “Writing a will is not necessarily straightforward” Jan explains, But that doesn’t mean it has to be difficult for the client! “There are a lot of aspects to consider, but we’ll talk these through and I’ll give honest, straightforward advice. Everybody’s circumstances are different and it’s my role to explain how a client’s family and loved ones could be affected in the event of their death. It’s a very sensitive area and people don’t like to talk about it, but we have to face reality. Death is inevitable, and if we plan for it we can avoid leaving loved ones in a mess.” Services provided by J M Wills & Legal Services include wills, financial planning for old age, funeral planning, trusts, power of attorney, and protection of assets. “People often have complex lives and situations, but if we talk about your wishes they can be achievable. It’s just a case of making your wishes known – then I can take care of the legal side!” Jan is friendly, down to earth and immediately puts you at ease. She’s clearly very knowledgeable and over the years she has encountered and made provisions for all kind of personal circumstances, so her clients can relax in the knowledge that their long-term care, finances, assets and loved ones are all catered for in the way that they wish, and that these personal decisions won’t end up in the hands of the courts. J M Wills & Legal Services are members of the ‘Trusted Trader Scheme’, and are regulated by the Ilex Professional Standards. Be prepared! We all know that planning for the future is so important, whether it’s retirement, a house move, or a holiday. Sadly, making sure everything is in place in case you or a family member becomes ill, or needs care, or dies, is down near the bottom of most people’s ‘to do’ list, sometimes even getting shunted onto the ‘too difficult’ list. Planning ahead can make life so much easier for those who are left to deal with your wishes after you aren’t around any more. Making a Will is something most of us have not yet tackled. But setting out your wishes clearly can avoid unpleasant family disputes, and in some cases can save loads of Inheritance Tax. If you don’t leave a Will, the Government’s intestacy rules writes one for you. Lasting Powers of Attorney enable you to plan for your future by allowing a trusted family member or friend or professional advisor to take charge of your finances or make decisions about welfare issues should you become incapable of doing so yourself. There are two kinds of LPA, one for Property and Financial Affairs and the other for Health and Welfare issues. What happens if you don’t have an LPA and someone needs to take charge? It’s off to the Court of Protection to queue many weeks for expensive court orders, when you could have prepared something much better, avoiding lengthy, expensive, and bureaucratic processes. Making gifts during your lifetime can sometimes save tax – but you need to make sure that you stay within the rules. Planning for Care Fees is always a worry. Somewhat surprisingly, the best weapon is a pair of properly drafted Wills. Taking early professional advice can help you and your family plan for the future, and stop you falling into the “deprivation of assets” traps. Googling? Despite the wealth of advice and information you can access online, there’s no real substitute for getting face to face professional legal advice about your own unique family situation. For help in writing Wills, creating powers of attorney, and getting prepared for the future, contact Jayne Smith at Rothera Dowson Solicitors on 0800 158 5316.

breeze get your kit on Fred Hallam Ltd has been unveiled as the new shirt sponsor for Nottingham Casuals RFC and will be selling the club’s merchandise at one of its shops in Beeston to raise awareness of the club and collect funds for new facilities. Managing Director Mr Hallam, who made seventeen appearances for Nottingham RFC, said: “I think we are so lucky to have a local rugby club like the Casuals in Beeston and would love to see its facilities improved so it can build on the success of earlier years. “To attract youngsters the club needs better changing facilities and that’s why we are looking to raise awareness in the area.” Mr Hallam said: “We will be stocking beanie hats for the winter and shirts available to order – anything we can to raise money for the club.” The club has been part of Beeston since 1922 and its pitch and clubhouse are on the Weir Fields, in Beeston Rylands. The senior playing squad has increased from two to three teams in the last few seasons and the club has won a national award from the RFU for recruiting students from the local universities, so they can keep playing rugby while away from their home towns.
breezemagazine 16
Recently, the club developed a strategy to bring rugby to the children of Beeston and, in 2011, the club set up a minis and juniors sections, which have grown to have six age groups in just two seasons. Last month Nottingham Casuals RFC became the first Kids First Club in the region. The scheme is designed to get more children under 11 playing rugby. Posting on the club’s website, Bryn Lewis said: “This is great news for our kids, who benefit from this exciting new programme of coaching and we hope to retain and recruit more children to this great sport in Beeston and the surrounding area. “The children are provided with sticker books in which they can record their personal achievements in the sport.”

open house A Nottingham subscription library is opening up its private walled garden to the public on Saturday 24th May to support Alzheimer’s Society during Dementia Awareness Week. The Bromley House Library Open Garden Event will take place on Saturday 24th May from 1pm- 4pm. The Library, which was founded in 1816 and is home to over 40,000 books, is situated in the centre of Nottingham in a Grade II* listed Georgian town house and is home to one of the few remaining city centre walled gardens. Alzheimer’s Society is the leading support and research charity for people with dementia and their families and carers. Dementia affects over 800,000 people in the UK and Dementia Awareness Week, which runs from 18th-24th May, aims to raise awareness of all types of dementia and to show how to get the right support and to live well with the condition. There are around 3000 people living with dementia in Nottingham. The garden will be open from 1pm to 4pm and entrance is £2 per person. Cake and refreshments will be available as well as a raffle and dementia information stand. Assistant Librarian Geraldine Gray said: “Our walled garden is a place of calm and tranquility in the city centre and it will be looking at its best in May. Bromley House’s gardener will be on hand to answer any queries and Carol Barstow will be able to answer any queries about the library. We are delighted to be working in support of the Alzheimer’s Society particularly during Dementia Awareness Week” Danielle Hindle, Community Fundraiser for Alzheimer's Society in the East Midlands said: “It’s fantastic that Bromley House Library is opening up the private garden to help raise vital awareness and funds to support Alzheimer’s Society. It’s a wonderful venue and will be a great afternoon out for the whole family. It is local organisations like them that enable us to support more people living with dementia and their families and carers. We greatly appreciate their support and generosity.”

Chilwell Olympia Karate School is forty years old this year. To celebrate this auspicious event Japanese master, Shiro Asano, 9th Dan, will be taking a special class on Saturday 5th April at Chilwell Olympia Sports Centre. Karate students from all over the Great Britain will be attending. The karate school was one of the first clubs to be established at the sports centre which is also forty years old. It was founded by Albert Hampson (former secretary of Shotokan Karate International G.B.) in 1974. Albert, who is 95 years old, still takes a keen interest in karate and often attends grading examinations and courses in a supervisory capacity. Instructor John Crowther trained in the very first class held at the centre and is still training and teaching to this day.

Master Asano has been a regular visitor to the school ever since it was established, helping maintain high standards in traditional shotokan karate. Five Chilwell students: Jamie Hinson, Pasq Mura, Steve Scott, Guy Stephenson and Simon Weatherill, have been selected to represent Great Britain at the Shotokan Karate International European Championships to be held in Dresden, Germany in May. Get into golf at Chilwell Manor …there’s never been a better time If you’ve ever wondered whether you’d like golf or joining a golf club, now is the ideal time, and Chilwell Manor the perfect place. And if you haven’t ever wondered, this might just get you going!
Golf is an amazing sport. • It can deliver equal satisfaction to both absolute beginners and seasoned enthusiasts • Given decent weather and likeable playing companions it’s a beautiful walk in lovely countryside with good company • It’s as competitive and challenging as you want to make it • It’s healthy exercise that promotes both stamina and mobility • At the right golf club with decent bar and dining facilities and a lively committee, it’ll offer you extremely sociable ‘après golf’ activities.
The trick is to find the right club… and we think Chilwell Manor is going to tick most of your boxes… For a start it’s a lovely parkland course dating back to 1906, so it has bags of tradition.
From a playing point of view it’s a genuine challenge - described by those who know as ‘a great test of golf’. And the round-the-year greens are considered to be among the best in the county.
They run successful teams at all levels - ladies, gents and juniors who are always looking for new talent.
Socially it’s always enjoyed a great local reputation. Friends who’ve joined never stop talking about dinner dances, quiz nights, discos and barbecues…you name it.
The food’s excellent and competitively priced. The beer’s good. There’s plenty going on and the whole atmosphere of the place is friendly.
Vitally - for those of you who’ve never tried golf before or who haven’t played for a while - it’s a fantastic club for learning the game or rekindling your interest.
breezemagazine 24
This year, Chilwell Manor has joined a national initiative called ‘Get into golf’... ... this brings adults and juniors discounted teaching from PGA professional, Paul Wilson. In small, friendly groups you’ll learn how to swing a club and hit a ball properly, and the rules of the game. As you progress you’ll spend time actually out on the course with the ‘Pro’ and pick up more advanced skills. Complete the course and then take advantage of Chilwell's great value membership! It’s an enjoyable, affordable and highly sociable way of dipping your toes into golf. You’ll find more details about ‘Get Into Golf’ from Paul’s Chilwell Manor pro shop, or by clicking on this link: http://tinyurl.com/q67ok45

Add half a pint of White vinegar (3-6 monthly), without clothes in, this keeps the door seal clean and prevents black mould. Cookers When cleaning with those powerful cleaners its worth remembering to avoid spraying the element. We get many calls to replace element damaged after overzealous cleaning. EASTER BUNNIES FAMILY EVENT - A FREE HEALTH CHECK FOR YOUR RABBIT The staff at Churchcroft love Easter, partly because of the chocolate but mostly because of the bunny bonanza that often follows. To celebrate our little furry friends, Churchcroft Vets are hosting a FREE Rabbit Healthcheck Day on Good Friday April 18th.
From 10am to midday, head vet George will be on hand to offer free examinations and advice for any rabbit that is brought in. George says “All the family are welcome because it’s important for everyone to be involved in the care of family pets, especially rabbits.” Churchcroft are also producing a rabbit information sheet for visitors, which has detailed information about care of your rabbit and how to avoid the common bunny health problems. Colouring activities will be available for children and whilst you are chatting about your bunny you can enjoy tea and cake in exchange for a small donation to the charity Worldwide Veterinary Services which Churchcroft Vets are supporting this year. Information about this excellent charity is on display at the practice and on Churchcroft’s Facebook page. Churchcroft telephone 0115 922 4855

Beeston Wildlife Group Where everyone's talking about nature! NOW THAT’S SCILLY - BY NIGEL SLATER
About the talk The Isles of Scilly are just visible from Land’s End, tantalisingly close but another world away. The talk looks at the history of the islands, what it’s like to live there and the different feel of each of the five inhabited islands. Exotic plants abound, it's sometimes hard to believe you are in Britain, stunning scenery is around every corner. The wildlife is varied from incredibly tame birds, giant moths and stick insects, to birds from American and Asian lands. There may be an uncertain future for the archipelago, come and find out what might be in store! About the speaker Nigel, a local naturalist, has visited the Isles of Scilly many times at different times of the year. He has experienced tropical weather and severe Atlantic storms and has even been stranded there! He has seen hundreds of species, from birds, mammals, insects, sharks and dolphins. He looks forward to going back each year with anticipation, never knowing what might turn up depending on the wind and population fluctuations. An overwhelming desire to return and wander the lanes and shore lines is always there. Changes in the road ahead All drivers of commercial vehicles over 3.5 tonnes need to obtain their Driver CPC Qualification Card (DQC) by 9th September 2014. If they have not obtained their card by this date they cannot drive professionally, and could be fined up to £1,000 if they do.
Drivers can attend courses one day at a time or the full week. However time is running out, so you need to book as soon as you can. For free advice, just call Pride between 9:00 and 17:00hrs Monday to Friday.
Pride Training was one of the very first Approved Training Centres and is based here in Long Eaton. As well as providing Driver CPC training to local drivers, they design and develop Driver CPC training material for large organisations, for example Aldi, The Co-op, and Northgate Vehicle Hire, as well as other training providers. They can travel to the clients premises if they have a large enough group. The Driver CPC syllabus covers all aspects of a professional drivers role, from driving safely and economically to working with others. Pride has a core of ten 3.5 hrs Approved Modules to cover the full syllabus. Two of these modules are delivered within the compulsory 7 hrs training period and drivers have to attend five sessions to meet the requirement of 35 hrs approved training. Once they have completed their training, they will receive their Driver’s Qualification Card, which must be carried with them whenever they drive professionally. There is no test at the end of the session, however Pride’s very interactive training style ensures that drivers get the most from their training. The staff at Pride fully appreciate that not everyone looks forward to this compulsory training, so they ensure that the training they provide is relative, engaging, interesting and fun.
“Our aim is to provide both PCV and LGV operators with different options to suit their training and operational need. Whether you need a training provider to provide the Driver CPC Training, or you have aspiration to setup your own approved training centre, we are here to help.” says Steve Morison. Steve, who has over thirty five years training, development and testing experience, leads the team at Pride which is unique. Steve was the Training Manager for the Driving Standards Agency, as well as one of the headquarters quality control team. The Team includes highly experienced and qualified trainers, as well as administration staff who are fully conversant with the Driver CPC requirements.

Blooming Spring! Save money and have the reward of growing your own plants - try starting with bedding plants as these aren’t difficult. You will need: • Seed trays • Potting pots • Seeding & potting compost • Nitrogen based fertiliser • Clear plastic to cover the seed tray/s • Dibber Couldn’t be simpler could it? As always, get the fundaments right and start off with good seed from a good high quality commercial seed house. The individual seed packets will also have information on how to treat the seed, when to plant out, transplant the seedlings, etc. If you’ve kept some seeds from last year (even more economical!) plant these a little heavier in the tray to make up for low germination rates. Smaller seeds such as Begonias are sometimes best bought as
breezemagazine 34
plants as they can be tricky to sow well. Compost type to use The next most important factor is the compost mix. Most seeds will be in the seeding tray (a shallow tray filled about three inches deep with seeding compost) initially for only a short time before you transplant them out into bigger pots. This compost does not need a lot of nutrients and you can get commercial potting mixes ready made. Planting the seeds Make sure you pack the compost firmly in the trays, level and smooth. It is important to water the mix before you fill the trays and then after you fill the trays and again, once more after you have sprinkled the seed. Follow the specific instructions on planting density on the packet. After sprinkling them on then cover with a thin layer of more compost. Always add water from the bottom for newly planted seed by placing the tray on a wet cloth or sponge. This won’t disturb the seed.
Cover with clear plastic and keep at room temperature as much as possible on or near to a window sill. The first leaves are cotyledons, seed leaves and not true leaves. Wait until you get two or more regular leaves developed until moving to the larger trays. Stress and disease If the plants are stressed in the seed trays, they will mature too quickly, going to Flower early and giving you short, small, not very numerous Flowers. To avoid this problem don't let the plants get drought stressed in the trays. • Don’t overheat - room temperature is ok • Don’t plant so as overcrowded • Add nitrogen fertilizer to the second stage (continues...)

breezegardening (...continued) of planting to help stop them maturing ahead of time. Avoid potassium based fertiliser.
Thinning out Fill the small tray pots, (six or eight per flat), or even yogurt containers with potting compost all the way down. They will need drainage holes at the bottom but don’t bother adding gravel to the bottom of the pot. Take the small seedling from the seed tray by grasping the plant by the leaves gently, never by the stem. Water beforehand. Ease them out with an old kitchen fork. Replant separately into each pot - make a hole with a dibber in the new compost, drop the seedling in and pack the soil up sideways around it with the dibber. You can set the seedlings a little deeper in the soil than they were before. When you are thinning the seedlings out you may want to add some sterilized black soil (avoids weeds growing) to the compost mix to give it some body, some more minerals, and a little more nutrients for the plants. You will need to fertilize these pots over the growing period with your nitrogen based feed.. Grow them on in the pots and before putting them out in hanging baskets or in the garden then harden them off by putting them in an unheated porch for a few weeks to acclimatise gradually to the much less warm conditions outside. Watering Over watering is the most common cause of disease in bedding plants and the soil surface should not be constantly moist. Allow the soil to dry out between watering but do not stress the plants for lack of water, wilting will slow down growth and may cause the plants to harden up, and mature too soon. Feed with liquid feed once a week.
breezemagazine 36
Disease The most common disease problem in seedlings is "damping off" caused by several fungal pathogens living at the soil surface. The only true control is to not over water. There - you now will have plants ready to use in your hanging baskets & pots. Easy wasn’t it? Let’s look forward to the next stages in our garden of chromatic excellence - enjoy!

New to Beeston..... Expanding their ever successful business, Fred Hallam Ltd is bringing us Beeston’s only Garden Centre... Fred Hallam Ltd has been on the High Road since day one and with the ever increasing demand for a wider range of produce it is beginning to bulge at the seams to keep everyone happy. So here arrives the latest addition to the popular family business... Beeston's only garden centre. "We have always sold a large variety of seasonal plants and shrubs going back as long as we can remember but have always wished for a premises that we can really showcase our knowledge" "When we heard that the florist on the corner of Derby Street was closing down, we saw the opportunity to give Beeston a quality and competitively priced garden centre.” The shop, formally Roma Flowers, closed before Christmas and the Hallam brothers hated the idea of there being another boarded up shop on the High Road. "It is a hard time for any new business to take off, so we are really hoping the public will get behind us." The new shop is now open and will boast everything to keep your garden pretty and vibrant - from compost to feeds, plants to shrubs, and many garden accessories. "The location is ideal because there is parking in the Derby Street car park which is free for an hour. We can always help you to your car with heavy items. If not then local delivery is available." "We have been to lots of shows and had meetings with many nurseries and suppliers to give us lots of great ideas and some really quality products to give Beeston what it needs in the garden department. Everything from pots and watering cans to fertilizers and hanging baskets will be catered for. We can’t wait for bedding plants, perennials and of course our famous rose bushes." The garden centre will be open Mon-Sat and anyone shopping in the first month can claim a 10% discount with a promotional flyer. 95 High Road, Beeston (corner of Derby Street) www.fredhallam.com

YOUR MONTH AHEAD
ARIES [March 21st-April 20th] Guided by your own instincts you concentrate more on your personal life making sure no one interferes with plans already made. Disappointed in someone’s behaviour you no longer accept what they have to say as an excuse. Careful not to overspend you make some change within the home, which please others. Diplomacy needed. TAURUS [April 21st-May 20th] Putting your trust in others may not be the most sensible thing to do, or so you feel at some stage during this month. Emotions appear to get the better of you but not for long. Putting the past behind you pays dividends and with plenty of ideas for the future the month serves as a stepping-stone for better things to come financially too. GEMINI [May 21st-June 21st] With new relationships on the way and a busy schedule, planning becomes an important part of the day. Putting time aside for yourself you take a sentimental journey with one special person in mind. Cautious you make your own mind up when meetings take place unexpectedly. Improvements are made in one area of your life.

CANCER [June 22nd-July 23rd] A highly successful and motivated month, one in which by putting certain plans into action you become aware of positive changes. Bumping into one person not seen for some time takes you by surprise with another date made in the near future. One day out might prove costly when temptation takes over. Plans for a short break likely.
LIBRA [Sept 24th-October 22nd] Love and romance play a key roll when feeling lost and alone. Once on form there is no stopping you at what you wish to achieve. Good planning and well thought out goals are met sooner rather than later. Taken by surprise you accept support when needed. Taking up some kind of training to help others likely in the near future.
LEO [July 24th- August 23rd] April brings in balance and harmony where you felt had slipped away with one particular person. With a smile you allow others to help out saving you any inconvenience. Unfinished jobs around the home may well be completed by the end of this month that is providing someone plays their cards right. Happy days ahead.
SCORPIO [October 23rd-Nov 22nd] Romance is not far away especially when you may have given up one way or another. Pleasing news reaches you by the end of the month that sets your heart fluttering, especially for those who are single. Travelling over water brings two people closer together. News of a birth gives rise for celebrations one way or another.
VIRGO [August 24th-Sept23rd] Taking no chances you prepare in plenty of time to overcome any foreseeable hiccups from one persons lack of insight. Taking control where someone left off puts you in goods stead for future gains. Standing up for what you firmly believe in goes down well with some but not others. You become a shoulder to cry on for a good friend.
SAGITTARIUS [Nov 23rd-Dec 22nd] See all and say nowt, That is precisely what will happen when realising one person has been telling porkpies. Discovering what the problem is you guide them into a more positive way of thinking out a solution for themselves. Putting heads together financial matters are dealt with and a compromise found to make things easier.
CAPRICORN [Dec 23rd-January 20th] You have no intension to sit back and let the world go by this month. With much on the agenda you discover a plan of action may well make things easier bringing quick results. Any disappointments become yesterdays news when in the company of so called friends. Spending time with loved ones has its rewards with a view to travel. AQUARIUS [Jan 21st- Feb19th] Plenty to say but you feel no one is listening. You make sure you are heard loud and clear at some stage, ruffling feathers likely but not for long. Discussions are held to which changes a route allowing you to gain more control over matters away from home. Having plenty to think about mislaying of items frustrating when in a hurry. PISCES [February 20th-March 20th] Showing someone just what you are made of and by just getting on with life in general gives him or her plenty to think about. Confident and realising how strong you are becoming plans are made to travel light and with those you love. Any jealousy felt by others is pushed to one side. Helping out only when you can doesn’t go down well.

foxy members! An exciting new children’s club called The NIM Red Fox Club has opened at the Nottingham Industrial Museum in Wollaton Park. And, since Christmas, over 150 local children have already become foxy members! To join The MIN Red Fox Club, simply follow a trail to find four little lost foxes, hidden around the museum, amongst the industrial and transport exhibits. If they find all four, they can join the Club, receiving an exclusive membership badge which entitles them to FREE admission to the museum for the rest of 2014! A monthly bulletin is also sent out to all members, sharing upcoming events and latest museum news. Don’t miss out, because at the moment we have a competition running to name the fox that lives in the museum. Children can enter by drawing a picture of a red fox and writing its name on the paper. Just drop it into the museum and they will be printing some of the drawings in a future bulletin. Prizes will be awarded for the winning entry and best drawings. The Club is run by volunteers Richard English and Kerry Ward. Something else to look out for in the museum is that on the last weekend of every month, the museum’s steam engine exhibits run in full steam. Families can enjoy watching our fantastic beam engine and agricultural exhibits operating as they once did. Admission charges apply. The Club is open to children 12 and under. Museum is open weekends and Bank Holidays 11am – 5pm. For more information see www.nottinghamindustrialmuseum.co.uk
