RANTS & RAVES
rants & raves STAYCATION tips
This year, we have all been “trapped” in the comfort of our own homes. With all the travelling plans cancelled, we aren’t quite sure when we will be able to travel out of the country! But fret not! Although the unexpected pandemic has brought us a chance to discover our homeland. Instead of travelling out of the country this year, let us go for a staycation and explore what Sabah has to offer.
First of all, you need to know what you want to do. Are you looking for a relaxing getaway? Maybe a day at the beach? Or perhaps just a fun-filled day with friends and good food? Honestly, you could have any reason to get out of the house. You could even book a hotel room to have a party! It’s all about having fun anywhere you go!
Now, where could you possibly stay? If you’re looking for a simple stay just for sleeping at night while you enjoy the afternoon café hopping, why not try the Stanton Hotel. Located near Karamunsing, you can explore the nearby cafés, or even drop by Imago shopping mall for a quick movie! Besides that, Stanton hotel has a cute little café right outside their door. M Café is an instagrammable place for pictures, along with the front of the hotel. by Cherelle Lim Okay, so what if you want to drop by the beach or go glamping? Boy, do I have a few places in mind. First off the list, Cabana Retreat located in Kota Belud is a dream location for luxury camping! The aesthetically pleasing beach resort is definitely an experience to try with so much to do. Not only can you surf, paddleboard, ride an ATV and a jet ski, but there’s also activities for kids and best of all, a firefly tour to get you feeling like the princess and the frog. If you prefer a bit more privacy on your relaxing beach day, check out Hibiscus Beach Retreat in the depths of Kudat’s forest. Minutes away from the tip of Borneo, this retreat offers chalets where you can have the beach all to yourself. Although secluded, it’s a once in a lifetime experience.
So those are my picks. What about you? Where are you going next for your staycation? Till then, let us hope the current pandemic situation tone down so we all can do our staycation.
