The Mercy Health Promise Making healthcare easier with a Nurse Navigator at, and on, your side. To navigate means to direct or manage something, or someone, carefully and safely on course. And a navigator? Someone whose sole mission is to help you find your way. Yes, our Nurse Navigators make the difference. A cancer diagnosis is scary. It can be isolating, confusing, and overwhelming. And that’s where a Nurse Navigator comes in. A nurse, an advocate, a guide, and a friend to come alongside you so you can face the road ahead with the confidence, clarity, and compassion you need, and deserve, during this time. Having a Nurse Navigator means you’re not alone. At Mercy Health, you’re never alone.

A Journey of Faith Mind, body, spirit. We’re committed to healing your whole self and individualizing your treatment plan based on diagnosis, stage, and needs. The graceful and colorful birds that soar throughout our centers thanks to Andrew and Karen Merrels, are a reminder that within these walls is hope, faith, and sincere expression of strength in numbers. We believe your cancer journey is a truly unique experience, but our birds proclaim it need never be a lonely voyage. And we extend this idea of faith to you and every one of our patients. Faith in us, faith in yourself, and faith in your journey. After all, the cancer journey is a journey of faith.
The reason birds can fly and we can’t is simply because they have perfect faith. For to have faith is to have wings. – J. M. Barrie

Above and Beyond Care Mercifully Close to Home Nobody has time for cancer. Especially Nicole Petrey, vibrant young stay-at-home mom of two. When a stubborn sore throat turned into breathing difficulty, doctors at Mercy Health – St. Vincent Medical Center discovered a quite literal “lump in her throat.” A biopsy was ordered – and the results were shocking. It was a very rare, very aggressive T-Cell Lymphoma. But Nicole was undeterred. “I have a family – my husband, my girls, people who need me,” she insists with her confident, signature smile. “I was not letting cancer take me out.” Nicole could have gone anywhere for her throat cancer treatment. She chose the Mercy Health – Perrysburg Cancer Center because it was mercifully close to home in Bowling Green. When the friendly, helpful, accommodating staff went above and beyond to support her entire family – she knew she made the right choice. Nicole’s care team mobilized quickly. Her oncologists planned for chemotherapy and radiation treatments over the course of a year. Her Nurse Navigator was on the move from day one to shepherd Nicole through the process. The team learned quickly not to underestimate Nicole. After only six rounds of chemotherapy and just under nine months of radiation, Nicole got the good news – she was in remission! Today, Nicole has more energy and enthusiasm than ever before. Extremely grateful for her care team at the Mercy Health – Perrysburg Cancer Center, Nicole shares a word of advice to future patients.
