WELCOME

A SUPERSONIC SUCCESS STORY Announcing Bremont’s latest limited edition watch, celebrating 50 years of Concorde and incorporating parts of Concorde Alpha Bravo.

WELCOME FROM NICK AND GILES We would like to say a personal thank you for your interest in the Bremont collection, developed to meet the expectations of those who demand more from a mechanical watch. Time began for Bremont in 2002, when we embarked on a journey to make beautifully crafted watches of exceptional quality. Inspired by a love of flying historic aircraft, of watches and of all things mechanical, our timepieces had to be tested beyond the normal call of duty - and not just in the workshop. Immensely precise, reliable and durable, Bremont watches are hand-built in limited numbers; we’re proud that all are now assembled in the UK. Each is designed to appeal to those who share our passion for and appreciation of the innovation and mastery behind a beautiful mechanical wristwatch. We hope you enjoy the same satisfaction when you wear a Bremont watch as we do in creating one.

Nick & Giles English, Co-Founders

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of an aircraft both brilliant and beautiful, Bremont launches its eighth historical limited edition timepiece, the Bremont Supersonic, incorporating parts of one of the most famous and iconic planes in history – Concorde. Ahead of her time in more ways than one, Concorde flew faster than a rifle bullet and halved the time of transatlantic crossings. Over 2.5 million British Airways passengers experienced flying eleven miles high at twice the speed of sound. This evocative civilian airliner completed more supersonic flying hours than the entire world’s air forces combined. The Bremont Supersonic contains our first ever manual wind movement which features an 8-day power reserve and has a power reserve indicator at the 12 o’clock position on the dial. The style of the timepiece is reminiscent of a 70’s look and feel with its sunburst white dial representing Concorde’s specially developed highly reflective paint. The blue hands of the Supersonic echo British Airways blue on Concorde’s famous livery and a subtle motif of the plane’s iconic silhouette can be seen on the second-hand sub dial.

SUPERSONIC TAKES-OFF The launch event saw over 450 guests attend to witness the unveiling of the timepiece on the

24th October 2018, exactly 15 years to the day since Concorde’s very last flight.

TIME FLIES

Introducing:

W H I T E G O LD - 100 P IE CE S

ROSE G OLD - 1 00 PIEC ES

STEEL - 30 0 PIEC ES

In partnership with British Airways, metal from the G-BOAB Concorde, known as Alpha Bravo, was donated to Bremont to incorporate into these unique timepieces. This aircraft was registered in 1974, taking to the skies for the first time in May 1976 flying from Filton to Fairford in 3 hours, 32 minutes. It was the third Concorde to be part of the British Airways fleet. In September 1984, she set a distance record for an airliner with a 4,565 mile flight from Washington to Nice and in November of that year, flew the inaugural charter service from London to Seattle via New York. A top speed of Mach 2.05 was reached at a height of 63,500ft. She was even famed for flying the England squad home from France after the 1998 World Cup. The elegant design of Concorde gave it an instantly recognisable silhouette, which has been cleverly incorporated into the movement of the Bremont Supersonic. Aluminium taken from the plane has been machined into a decorated ring within the case back design, underneath the crystal. This will also feature a description of the aircraft’s main attributes: number and registration, years of active service, number of supersonic flights as well as her top speed. The watch is limited to 300 steel, 100 white gold and 100 rose gold pieces. Giles English explains “Concorde was more than just metal. She inspired pride and emotion – that is truly a rare thing. We are delighted to dedicate the Bremont Supersonic chronometer to this remarkable type and will incorporate aluminium from Concorde Alpha Bravo into the watch. The Bremont Supersonic is our unique tribute to the world’s only successful supersonic airliner; it’s an honour to work with a prestigious company such as British Airways and for them to trust us with their Concorde heritage.” In the world of civil air transport, Concorde stood out. When she passed overhead, people paused to catch a glimpse of her distinctive silhouette. Concorde’s delta wing with its sweptback curve was adapted from military designs. To reduce drag and increase strength, a technique called sculpture milling was used to mould the wing from one solid piece of aluminium. This resulted in a wing free of welds and rivet joins. Over 5,000 hours of testing ensured Concorde’s wing could generate lift at critical low speeds as well as the supersonic speeds she reached at altitude. Bremont Co-Founder Nick English said, “Concorde made the dream of supersonic travel a reality. She was a landmark in aircraft design and her incredible achievements make her a classic example of British engineering at its finest. She was cutting edge throughout her 27-year service.” British Airways Chairman and CEO Álex Cruz said: “Concorde was such a magnificent piece of engineering and will always be an important part of our heritage. We are hugely excited to have partnered with Bremont, another British brand with a history of exceptional design, as we celebrate Concorde’s 50th year and look ahead to our centenary in 2019.”

TIME FLIES

Unlike traditional airliner designs, Concorde’s wing was free of complicated flaps, slats or tabs. Another distinguishing feature was her 24-foot long needleshaped nose. To allow pilots to see the runway, her aerodynamic nose cone was designed to ‘droop’ down by 12 degrees. During flight it was raised, and a reinforced tinted visor slid up to protect the cockpit windows at supersonic speeds. Supersonic flight subjected Concorde to extreme thermodynamic pressures that caused the airframe to heat up and stretch. The aircraft’s nose was the hottest point, reaching 127 degrees Celsius. These extreme temperatures caused the airframe to stretch up to 11 inches, a factor taken into account when developing Concorde’s special highly reflective paint and laying the cabin’s carpets. Cruising at Mach 2, Concorde’s maximum operating ceiling was 60,000 feet. Any military pilot at similar altitudes would be wearing a space suit and breathing oxygen. Concorde passengers were wearing shirtsleeves and drinking champagne. What her designers achieved was remarkable: a pioneering airframe operating at high altitudes and supersonic speeds, whilst still providing a commercially viable and reliable service. Bremont is delighted to be working with British Airways on the launch of this special limited edition, ahead of the airline’s centenary celebrations next year. Founded in 1919, British Airways is one of the world’s leading global premium airlines with an aircraft taking off from somewhere in the world every 90 seconds. British Airways will celebrate its 100th anniversary on 25th August 2019. The airline can trace its origins back to the birth of civil aviation. Since the world’s first schedule air service on August 25, 1919, air travel has changed beyond all recognition. Parts of the proceeds of these unique limited edition timepieces will be donated to the Air League Trust, an organisation that works to introduce young people from all backgrounds to aviation and aerospace. The brilliant cause is part of a wider network of charities supported by British Airways, known as Flying Start. Concorde’s official farewell was held at Heathrow on 24th October 2003. Loved by pilots, passengers and the public, large crowds turned out to witness her final flights and wish her a fond farewell, with millions more watching on the television news. Concorde was not merely a machine; she was a cherished source of national pride. Whilst she undoubtedly saved her passengers time, there were many who wished the flight lasted longer.

ROCKIN’ AROUND THE ALT1-C One of the very first models that Co-Founders Nick and Giles introduced into the Bremont collection was the ALT1-C Classic. Just as the name suggests, the model has become an iconic Bremont core range timepiece. The ALT1-C remains true to each of the technical principles behind any revered automatic timepiece. Integrating an impeccably modified, chronometerrated Valjoux 7750-SO BI AC movement, the ALT1-C brings together the art of watchmaking with the very best of technical innovation, precision and durability. True to Bremont’s aviation roots, the design of the ALT1-C’s dial takes inspiration from the fuel gauge of the de Havilland Mosquito and its Trip-Tick® case construction is available in a satin or polished finish. Both models are subjected to Bremont’s renowned case hardening treatment. The ALT1-C with satin finished steel case is available with a blue, cream, white or anthracite dial, whereas the polished version is available with a black or white dial. Additionally, Bremont have also created a rose gold ALT1-C for a truly classic and elegant look. The ALT1-C/RG is inspired by the great tradition of English watch making and its 18 carat rose gold case is hallmarked at the London Assay Office, where hallmarking began over 700 years ago.

CHRISTMAS HITS

HIGH POLISH The COSC certified ALT1-C is also available in a polished case iteration, with either a white or black dial. This polished steel is still subject to Bremont’s hardening treatment.

DID YOU KNOW? Whilst classic in its appearance, the ALT1-C’s durability and legibility make

it a popular choice for many of the military squadrons that Bremont works with.

ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS U-2

DID YOU KNOW? The Bremont U-2 was designed exclusively for, and tested extensively by, the elite Spy Plane Squadron based at Beale, California. These incredible pilots regularly take their iconic aircraft up to 80,000 feet on reconnaissance missions that often last over 12 hours.

If there was one particular watch that would be suitable to adorn the wrist of Father Christmas on his Christmas Eve endeavours, it would be the U-2. Developed with the U-2 Spyplane Squadron, the watch has been put through its paces at 100,000 feet and -50°C in the laboratory and out on missions. The U-2 chronometer has most of the advanced elements that were originally developed for the Martin-Baker range, including the Antishock rubberised movement mount; designed to withstand the MB ejection seat program. Four retail models are available including the new U-2/51-JET which can be seen on the wrist of Tom Hardy in the recent blockbuster film ‘Venom’.

NEWS FROM THE WORLD OF BREMONT

Briefing:

MILITARY & SPECIAL PROJECTS Bremont has built very close working relationships with military organisations around the world. As a result, we develop exclusive bespoke mechanical chronometers that pay tribute to individual units and their unique missions. It allows us to do something unlike any other luxury watch company: create mechanical watches that not only reflect our values, but also incorporate the 'DNA' of our military customers’ professions, aircraft and equipment. If sensibly maintained, a mechanical watch should last forever - unlike battery alternatives. So a quality watch is more than simply a timepiece, it is an heirloom to be passed down through the generations. Bremont’s passion for crafting beautifully engineered chronometers is shared by many of our military clients. We go to extraordinary lengths to produce unique timepieces for air force, navy and army units around the world, far surpassing any other brand. NIRMAL ‘NIMS’ PURJA MBE LAYS POPPY TRIBUTE AT SUMMIT OF HIMALAYAN MOUNTAIN “Many people ask why I am doing this. The reason is very simple. It’s my way of showing respect to those who gave their today for our tomorrow. Being in the military, I also know what this means; many people seem to forget what it really takes to give your life for the nation.” @nimsdai

Friend of the brand Nirmal ‘Nims’ Purja MBE has recently been recognised for his astounding achievements as he became the fastest man in the world to climb Everest (8,848m/29,029ft), Lhotse (8,516m/27,939ft), and Makalu (8,463m/27,765ft). He completed all 3 mountains in 5 days, 3 hours and 35 minutes, rightfully earning his place in the Guinness World Records. In another extraordinary act of endurance, on Remembrance Sunday, Nims climbed to the summit of Ama Damblam in Nepal (6,182m/22,349ft) one of the highest and most technical mountains to climb in the Himalayas. Whilst atop the mountain Nims planted a poppy tribute to remember and honour those who have lost their lives in the line of duty. Nims has now decided to take on another challenge which will push the boundaries of mountaineering. In 2019, he will begin his mission to climb all fourteen 8000 metre mountains in a 7 month period breaking the previous record timing of 7 years 11 months and 14 days. Bremont wish him the best of luck and will eagerly track his journey.

JORDAN WYLIE COMPLETES AFGHANISTAN MARATHON At the start of 2018, Bremont Ambassador Jordan Wylie set out on a charity run through 3 of the world’s most dangerous countries to change the lives of 3 children, a mission called ‘Running Dangerously’. His aim; to raise enough funds to run in 3 of the most dangerous countries in the world (Iraq, Afghanistan & Somalia) to pay for the education of 3 children that have been affected by war. Jordan set out to complete a 10K, Half Marathon and Full Marathon whilst documenting the whole process to raise awareness of this emotive and very important subject. Although his contribution to making a difference may be very small, he believes that by using sport and education we can at least give 3 young children hope, and where there is hope, there is also life. In October, wearing his Bremont S500, Jordan completed the final leg of the mission, the Afghanistan Marathon.

“Mission accomplished, Afghanistan Marathon 2018. The toughest, most physically and mentally enduring task I’ve ever completed in my life!” @ mrjordanwylie

BREMONT REVEALS A DARK SIDE October 2018 saw the release of Columbia Pictures’ highly anticipated action-packed film Venom, one of Marvel’s most enigmatic, complex antiheroes. Fitting with the dark and sombre tone of the film, the new stealthy Bremont U-2/51-JET timepiece can be seen adorning the wrist of Eddie Brock played by friend of the brand, Tom Hardy. The U-2/51-JET takes design cues from some of Bremont’s military work commissioned by the RAF’s 100 squadron members to complement their Hawk T1 Jet aircraft. The 100 Squadron was the first squadron formed for night bombing back in 1917 and its stealthy appearance inspired this ‘Jet’ black timepiece complete with a black smoked glass case back. The all-purpose Limited Edition diving watch hopes to add to the increasing awareness of the issues that our oceans are facing all over the globe. Rubbish accumulates in 5 ocean garbage patches, the largest one being the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. If left to circulate, the plastic will impact our ecosystems, health and economies. Started in 2010, ‘Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii’ is a grassroots, local non-profit organisation run by a small team of dedicated staff and supported by passionate volunteers. The charity inspires local communities to care for their coastlines through fun, hands-on beach cleanups as well as coordinating educational programmes, team building corporate clean-ups, ocean plastic recycling, waste diversion services and public awareness campaigns. Limited to 300 pieces, the beautifully engineered new Bremont Waterman has been tested in the most extreme ocean environments by Bremont Ambassador Mark Healey and incorporates a GMT hand and deepblue applied indexes on the dial. 01. BRITISH ENGINEERING Great Britain has a wonderful history when it comes to watchmaking and has probably been the home to more advances in horology than any other nation. Bremont is determined to play a pivotal role in the reinvigoration of this industry on British shores. Bremont builds many of its own watch components at its state-of-the-art parts manufacturing facility in Ruscombe, near Henley. As a company we verge on the obsessive in the desire to produce watches that are over-engineered for the task in hand. This passion becomes very evident when you hold a Bremont watch.

FIVE QUESTIONS WITH GILES ENGLISH, CO-FOUNDER WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE BREMONT WATCH AND WHY? I get asked this alot and it’s a bit like asking which of my daughters is my favourite, I love them all. If I was forced to choose, it would have to be the ALT1-P as it was our first prototype we ever produced and I remember the excitement when I put it on my wrist for the first time. Emotionally, that watch has a special place in my heart.

02. AVIATION AND MILITARY The love and passion for aviation has coursed through the founders' veins from an early age. There has always been a very close association between time and aviation since the first brave adventurers took to the skies over 100 years ago. The love of aviation and its uncompromising demands are inherent in every Bremont watch. Hand-in-hand with Bremont's love of aviation is the company's appreciation of military. Bremont has worked closely with the military for a number of years.

WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE FUTURE OF WATCHMAKING IN BRITAIN? It is a long journey and building anything to do with watches in the UK is a challenge, there is just not the skill set here unless you build it yourself. However, what is exciting is that we have been investing heavily in apprenticeship training across all areas of manufacturing and the results are truly amazing. In addition, we are

also strong supporters of the British School of Watch Making in Manchester who are doing a brilliant job. The future is very bright but we can never do this singlehandedly and need more manufacturers producing components in the UK because we are still a long way from competing with the Swiss. WOULD YOU CLASS A BREMONT WATCH AS AN INVESTMENT PIECE? I would first say buy a watch because you love it and buy it to wear, not just to put it in a safe. Real value growth generally comes in Limited Editions and for a young brand we are lucky to have had a very strong demand for our LE pieces, especially the historical editions, which first started with the EP120. We still keep our Limited Edition production numbers low and make sure they are historically important, when the demand outstrips supply investment growth follows. IF YOU WERE TO START BREMONT WATCH COMPANY AGAIN, IS THERE ANYTHING YOU WOULD DO DIFFERENTLY? I would make sure I have five brothers, that would have made it a lot easier. Manufacturing in the UK and not outsourcing manufacturing from abroad has always been our key mission statement for the business. It would have been much easier outsourcing it and at times it would have been better, but I am now so very glad we have continued to make the commitment to British industry.

03. ADVENTURE A key design requisite for the timepieces from the outset was the desire to make beautifully robust and durable watches that were at home both in the workplace and of course in rather more physical environments. The watches continue to be tested to the limits, both in the workshop but also by Bremont’s ambassadors and partners.

UK MANUFACTURE This is the first time watch parts have been made on this scale on British shores since the 1960’s

LAST CHANCE TO SAY SOMETHING NICE ABOUT NICK... He is very good at carrying my bag into meetings! Joking aside, I would not want to have gone through this adventure with anyone else. Watch manufacturing is a very hard business to work in. We are both an engineering company and a retailer trying to build a global brand. That requires many talents in order to be successful.
