Fire house competition

The fire station glorifies the horizontal forces that drove it’s design including the adjacent highway. The form derived from the challenge of designing with Concrete masonry units. This building was designed with CMU walls with in filled partition wall that allows for adaptability, efficiency and passive design strategies. The CMU walls are not meant to be a cold element but a warm element. Welcoming the fireman of Boise, Idaho.

Journey t i m e h i s to ry life time E x p e r i e n c e
6/19/2012 As my last real night in Rome ends. Here goes, I found that your stay in Rome is all about your state of mind making every hour count, letting the grandeur of this timeless city take over you. All the little things like the nooks and secret streets of this city remind me that after 2 months of living here my time in Rome has been but a blink of an eye. I’m going to miss the warm aroma of a bakery, the had made leather of a local craftsman, the tucked away shops that seem stuck in the 15th century, the old grandpa hanging out in their front door with their dogs, the uneven cobblestones that tore my feet apart, the cloths hanging out the window and even the annoying neighborhood dog Nina. This city may not change allot but it had the power to change me. The privilege I had to come to this amazing place with all my wonderful classmates has left a permanent imprint in my life. I will miss this city and all my new friends but I’m also grateful to go home to my sweet country and see my friends and family back home. Thank you Rome and all the wonderful Italians for showing me the time of my life.
I walk through the Pantheon. Well how could you not. When you walk inside it just looks fake all the materials are incredible. The floors of the Pantheon have purple marble from Egypt that is impossible to ever get today, Marble everywhere with inscriptions on them everywhere. It just takes my breath away every time. We are going to the Pentecost next week, which is going to be an Experience in itself. 6/10/2012
