NOTES ON A WEDDING

Watermouth Cove on Devon’s north coast makes a soul-stirring backdrop for a winter wedding filled with blousy blooms, deep hues and shimmering dresses

From the moody hues of the ocean to the white-tipped waves breaking at the cliffs, it’s difficult to imagine a more romantic setting for a winter wedding than the Devon coast. In this styled shoot, a palette of teal and deep green, and foliagerich arrangements dotted with blousy blooms bring gorgeous colour to Watermouth Cove, where leafy woodland meets the spectacular cliffscape of North Devon.

The palette carries from the clifftop pagoda to the Woodland Barn, where an arch of toffee and cream flowers makes a dreamy focal point amidst the twinkling lights and warm wood of the exposed beams. The tablescape sees a multitude of candles and marble accents nestle green table runners and elegant stationery adorned with florals and foliage.

Relaxed and romantic, the bridal gowns shimmer magically in the candlelight, from an ethereal dress with billowing sleeves and intricate floral detailing to a shoulder-baring gown embellished with a sea of crystals for dancing the night away. While the bridesmaids’ dresses carry the lustrous theme in rich green, the groom’s attire picks up on the colours of the surrounding landscape in sandy beige and earthy tweed.

Complete with a carnival of sparklers lighting up the night, it makes for a spellbinding – and achingly romantic – scene for a wedding in the depths of winter.
