Capsule Collection Our Capsule Collection evolved from our 30-year history of connecting and collaborating with outside artists and influencers. We call it the Friend of a Friend approach and work hand-in-hand with partners on these collections. The one condition for these collabs is that we share cultural similarities in our worlds—whether that’s a penchant for free thinking, unbridled creativity, or a passion for the ride. While the Capsule Collection offerings for 2017 are limited editions exclusive to this season, the connection between our brand and the collaborator is long lived.

Stylish big wave surfer Gerry Lopez achieved legend status in the 70s at Pipeline on Oahu’s North Shore. His relaxed confident style is as much of a trademark as the bright, vivid colors of his surfboards. In the early 90s Gerry discovered snowboarding and translated his effortless style to frozen white waves. In this collection we celebrate a shared appreciation for the ride reflected in Gerry’s bright poppy graphics across three unique EXV goggle designs. These limited edition Contact, Blok and Balance goggles feature the iconic Gerry Lopez Surfboards crest combined with Giro for timeless style, just like Gerry’s surfing and snowboarding.

The friendship between Giro and Descendents goes back many years. The iconic Southern California band known globally for their caffeine fueled pop songs about fishing, coffee and girls have long inspired our creative processes here at Giro. Fans of the band will instantly recognize iconic imagery and hidden details (Hey Milo!) on the Ledge MIPS helmet and Blok goggles. These new designs were illustrated by longtime Giro contributor and certified Descendents art guru Chris Shary. Collectible packaging reflects the band’s enthusiastic coffeeinspired lyrics, which are also reflected in the matte black coffee helmet and coffee brown goggle frames.
