Samhain Recipes I have mentioned previously several things that you can make for this time of year and now I am going into more depth on a few things. Hope you enjoy them and have fun making some wonderful things for your samhain rituals and celebrations. Soul Cakes This is the easy version for all the people who are cooking before their rituals. You can make your own crust or you use already made crust. Roll your dough out and cut into small circles that will fill a muffin cup so that it covers the sides and bottom. Next you will need 2 Tbs. melted butter, 1 C mixed dried fruit, 2 Tbs honey; mix these together and then fill up the muffin cups. You can make as many as you want, and you can also cut out tops for the cakes as well if you want to make it look more like a pie. Now, you just bake at 375 degrees for 15 minutes (if you made your own dough you might want to cook it first since this is just to get the mixture cooked) and you have your very own soul cakes. Bread of the Dead This is a good treat for the living as well as the dead. You can server it with hot chocolate or just regular milk. You will need 2 cups flour 1. 2 teaspoons baking powder 1. 2 Tablespoons sugar 1. 1/4 t. salt 1. 1 egg 1. 2/3 cup milk 1. 1/4 cup vegetable oil 1. 10 drops anise extract Heat the oven to 400 degrees, mix all of the above together until smooth. Now, roll it into whatever shapes you want, or just make a ball. Place on a greased cookie. Next, you will need: 1. 1. 1. 1.
1/4 cup brown sugar 1 T. flour 1 t. ground cinnamon 1 T. melted butter
Mix these together and you have the topping for the bread, sprinkle on the dough and then cook for 20 to 25 minutes. Once done, you can use icing to decorate. Samhain Oil You need equal parts of Frankincense oil, Patchouli oil, and Lavendar oil, and twice that
amount of Pine Oil. So, for example if you use 4 oz of lavender you are going to need 8 oz of pine oil. Mix together and bottle up and you have your oil.
Have a happy Samhain everyone!
