Local rider set to compete in Tennessee

Brentwood’s Seth Sadorra has been riding dirt bikes since he was 6. A longheld dream of his has been having a chance at the Amateur National Motocross Championship at Loretta Lynn’s. At 17, that dream will become a reality this weekend.

Sadorra attempted to qualify in a number of different races. In the races where he felt he had his best chances, he had bike issues and didn’t qualify. Racing at the end of the day in the Schoolboy 2 (12-17) B/C, Sadorra was battling for a qualifying position for much of the race. But once he got into a qualifying position, he didn’t let go.

“I went out and gave it everything I had,” Sadorra said. “I had a battle for the last qualifying spot for four laps of the six-lap race. When I finally passed for the spot, and with one lap left, I got really nervous. I made lots of mistakes that last lap, but was able to keep him behind me until the finish.”

“I was so excited that I about crashed coming off of the track,” he added.

Sadorra got into dirt biking because it was an interest of his brother, Antonio. When Antonio quit about five years ago, Seth got serious about it.

One of the challenges Sadorra has faced in reaching the goal of qualifying for Loretta Lynn’s is that it’s a motocross race. Sadorra is largely an offroad racer, which utilizes different skills than motocross — not unlike the difference between Olympic sprinters and distance runners.

Brentwood soccer players help club team win showcase

The Lamorinda United U19 Girls Academy team, featuring Brentwood residents Sabrina Rogers and Kaya Scott, recently won the Davis Legacy College Showcase.

In the sweltering heat of triple digits, the girls played four games over three days in the Super Group Category.

The first game was against the Santa Clara Sporting and ended in a 2-2 tie.

The following morning, the girls were up against the Legends FC 04 team. The game started with a corner as Marion Berzansky used her body to get the goal. Things only got better from there in the 4-0 win.

The third game was against the Placer United 03/04 National Premier League 1 squad. The girls came out strong and were determined to win and it showed in a 5-0 victory. The final game, the championship contest, was against local rival Cal Magic, where Lamorinda dominated and were crowned champions in a 4-1 win.

The team scored 15 goals over four games and had only three goals against them. Natalie Means received the Player of the Tournament Award and Rogers, Caitlyn McCulloch, Elle Efremsky, Mia Perales-Miranda and Means also became all-tournament team recipients.

Blasting the competition

The Brentwood Blast 13U squad recently won the Father’s Day Classic red bracket in Missouri. The team includes Carson Berard, Justin Arraiz, Tyler Williams, Aidan James, Austin Weideman, Joel Ray, Jason Stevens, Jameson Wolfe, Christian Cerda, Jaxon Bell and Austin Kralj. The team is coached by Eric Williams, Mike Berard, Jay Stevens and Jeff Ray.
