ADELAIDE WAS DESIGNED AROUND STATELY BOULEVARDS, PUBLIC SQUARES AND GRAND PARKLANDS, WITH VIBRANT PEDESTRIAN THOROUGHFARES LIKE RUNDLE MALL PROVIDING A UNIQUE CENTREPIECE FOR THE CITY

PAST Before European colonisation, the land around South Terrace was occupied by Kaurna people.

1837 Rundle Street was one of the streets included in Colonel William Light’s Plan of the City in 1837. By the 1880s, it was the retail heart of Adelaide with terraced shops nestled around an imposing three-storey complex.

1857 Located in the hear t of South Terrace, The Green Dragon Hotel was also a weighing station for goods being transferred into the city.

1918 The Glover playground opposite Park Sq was built, when it was recognised that the children of Adelaide needed a special place to play.

PRESENT 2000 South Parklands attracts thousands of visitors to its lawns, formal gardens, sports grounds and cycling paths throughout the area

2010 Redevelopment of Adelaide Oval transforms an already famous venue into a world-class enter tainment and spor ting at traction.

2012 As new cafés, bars and restaurants open in the heart of the city, a culture of city apar tment living is born.

2017 The introduction of Park Sq will bring a contemporary landmark to a prestigious address.
