About us Established by Diego Amadei in 2010, the design practice is recognised for its work in architecture, design, and strategic thinking. Today, a multidisciplinary team, including architects, designers, and makers, develops projects in interior, yacht, and product design through a combined network involving professionals from all over the world. The office is led by Diego Amadei in partnership with Magdalini Giannakidi. We like to consider ourselves as an international partnership, practicing contemporary design with the ambition to establish a UK -based agency that has, at its heart, the profound commitment to finding innovative design solutions, with a dedication to artistic thinking and the latent potential of materials and craftsmanship. This is achieved through a working methodology of collaborative rational inquiry, undertaken in a spirit of curiosity and experimentation. In the past few years of its existence, DA Design & Architecture has worked in many countries, with a wide range of commissioners and in a variety of regulatory environments, achieving high accolades in Europe and Asia, including awards for our works. Due to this experience, the studio has acquired a high level of expertise in the design and realisation of high-end projects, with a particular focus on interior design. Our main goal is to create beautiful, intelligent spaces that help the world's most visionary people realise their private, commercial, and cultural ambitions. We believe that life is too short to spend time in dull or inefficient spaces - and great spaces are the secret to people living and breathing their dreams. Bio Director and Founder of homonym design studio based in London, UK, Diego Amadei oversees and mentors his team, guiding and steering on all conceptual and creative fronts, ensuring the highest quality output at all times. Throughout his 17-year career in the design industry, Diego has worked in various creative fields as a multidisciplinary designer, including interior, yacht, product, furniture, and lighting design. He has delivered innovative high-end design work in both Europe and Asia, designing for prestigious brands and design firms such as Mark Berryman Design, Claudio Silvestrin, Lazzarini & Pickering, Oceanco, Lürssen Yachts, Sinot Yacht Design, Italproject, Armani Group, The Italian Sea Group, Alviero Martini, Fendi, Cappellini, Pershing yacht, Poltrona Frau, Alessi, Colombo, Treesse, LG, Bosch, Cantieri Navali D’Este, and the Italian Government. Projects have ranged from complex yachts, bespoke furniture, to luxury private properties, and he has proven his skills time and again in domestic and commercial interiors with a maniacal attention to detail. As a prolific designer in his own right, Diego's work has been recognised through several national and international awards and published in books and major international design magazines. Born in Italy, Diego studied industrial design in Milan at Polytechnic, focusing his attention on interior and furniture applications and obtained the MSc in naval and nautical design with the highest mark. Subsequently, he attended the Cruise Ship Yacht Design Workshop in Miami at Florida International University and specialised in virtual prototyping at IED European Institute of Design. Nowadays, he holds the position of visiting lecturer at the “La Sapienza” University of Rome for the courses of aerospace and mechanical engineering and at the Urbino Art Academy. Parallel to his activity as a designer, he’s bringing on his interests in new technologies, co-founding 3D SERVICE and MAKERN, the Italian fab-lab based in Rimini, with the aim to research and divulge the most innovative technologies and the related trends for academic purposes.

Magdalini Giannakidi hails from a diverse background, having been raised and educated in Georgia, Russia, Greece, and the UK. She earned an architecture degree with honours from the Moscow Institute of Architecture (MARKHI), specialising in the restoration and reconstruction of architectural heritage. Magdalini's interests evolved from craftsman techniques and restoration technologies to hands-on site experience, participating in international workshops, competitions, and conferences. She was selected as an official Russian delegate at the World Architecture Festival in Barcelona 2008. Among other awards she has also received a special prize for her project on the space organisation in Local Traditions for the Tatar Cultural Center in Dubai. Continuing her education in London, Magdalini holds an MSc degree in Urban Regeneration from the Bartlett School of Planning (UCL). During her studies, she collaborated with Happold Consulting and started her professional journey at Architects of Invention, a London-based office, working on diverse projects around the globe including the development and completion of a Class A office building and a Multifunctional Office Building in Moscow's central district. Magdalini has also contributed to the proposal for the Russian Pavilion at EXPO 2015, earning it the second prize. With extensive architectural and urban experience, she successfully managed the site and construction process for the luxury “N. Penthouse” in Hyde Park Gate, London and implemented several commercial interior projects like “12 Hay Hill Private Membership Club” in Mayfair, London. She has further developed her career as an interior architect in award winning interior practice Mokka Design, leading a group of professionals on numerous high-end private residential project in central London and across the globe. Her career journey continued as a yacht interior designer at Mark Berryman Design where she has completed the built of 136m MY Flying Fox (Lürssen, Germany) , 67m MY Life Saga (The Italian Sea Group, Italy) and other 100m +private yachts that are currently under construction at Oceanco, Netherlands. Since 2020 Magdalini has been part of the DA design studio, contributing to various private local and overseas projects. She has a passion for classic theatre. She enjoys dancing and art exhibitions in her spare time. Fluent in Russian, English, Italian, Greek, Turkish, and English, her multicultural background enriches her professional endeavours.

Spatial Awareness The first step in designing a space is to understand all of its parameters. Before we consider anything else—colours, fabrics, or dressing—we analyse the interior architecture and explore ways to adapt it to suit our client’s needs.

Furniture Almost all our furniture and furnishings are made to our own designs. This allows us to create objects that align with the specific requirements and tastes of our clients. Our design heritage is woven into the fabric of the company, offering intricate attention to detail and groundbreaking originality, married with the finest craftsmanship and quality.

Materials & Detailing Our extensive design library is full of beautiful finishes in every color, texture, and pattern. How we experience things—the touch and texture of materials—is just as important as what we see. We believe every single element should be executed immaculately and contribute to the overall experience.

Lighting We see lighting as a part of architecture that shapes and defines the space and not only as a decorative piece to be observed. We often integrate lighting into joinery, shelving, wardrobes, curtain pockets, and recesses, forming an integral part of our interior schemes. On the other hand, we also create magnificent chandeliers to evoke a sense of grandeur upon first viewing.

Art & Antiques We have strong relationships with many leading art galleries worldwide and the experience and knowledge to track down the right pieces. Vintage items also play a key role in design; we investigate antiques fairs in the countryside as well as cities such as London, Paris, and Milan.

Dressing The dressing of a room is a crucial element of the design process, reflecting the client's personality. We integrate their existing items with others that work in the space.
