he Soroptimist Chapter of Artesia-Cerritos held its 18th Monte Carlo fundraising event Feb. 26 in the Sierra Room at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts. Theme for the event was “An Evening in Casablanca”, taking those in attendance back to the year 1942. A life-size framed poster of Ingrid Bergman and Humphrey Bogart and a group of picture from the 1942 film “Casablanca” over looking the stage set the theme for an evening of fun and fine dining. The Cerritos City Council approved a proposal to reallocate federal grant funding for the installation of a photovoltaic system originally allotted to Cuesta Villas senior housing project to the City Corporate Yard.
