IN 1916 A MAN NAMED ALFRED STIEGLITZ, A RENOWNED ART DEALER AND PHOTOGRAPHER, BECAME THE FIRST TO SHOWCASE HER WORK. THE TWO HAD A PASSIONATE AFFAIR AND WERE MARRIED IN 1924. THOUGH MUCH OF THEIR LIFE WAS SPENT APART SHE WAS BY HIS SIDE WHEN HE DIED IN GEORGIA1946.

GEORGIA TRAVELED OFTEN, STAYING CLOSE TO THE REMOTE LANDSCAPES THAT INSPIRED HER. SHE CAMPED UNDER THE STARS, BRAVED WIND AND HEAT, PAINTING OUT OF HER MOBILE STUDIO, HER CAR.

O’KEEFFE LIVED TO THE AGE OF 98. SHE WAS IN HER BELOVED SOUTHWEST WHEN SHE PASSED IN 1986. HER ASHES WERE SCATTERED IN THE DESERT WHERE SHE FOUND SO MUCH INSPIRATION. SHE LEAVES BEHIND AN AMAZING LEGACY OF ARTISTIC EXPRESSION THAT HAS INSPIRED DECADES OF ARTISTS AND WOMEN

GEORGIA O’KEEFFE, BORN IN 1887, WAS AN AMERICAN MODERN ARTIST KNOWN FOR PAINTING NATURE IN A WAY THAT SHOWED HOW IT MADE HER FEEL. HER FAVORITE SUBJECTS WERE FLOWERS AND DESERT LANDSCAPES. GEORGIA WAS AN IMPORTANT PLAYER IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF MODERN ART AND WAS THE FIRST FEMALE PAINTER TO GAIN RESPECT IN THE 1920’S NEW YORK ART SCENE.
