fourth during Kendall’s tenure. The Eagles were rewarded with an invitation to the NCAA Division III South Regional Tournament, the first in the school’s impressive baseball history. Kendall’s team continued the success story in 1995, as the Eagles finished with a 25-10 record and the ODAC regular season title and tournament championship. The Eagles made their second consecutive trip to the South Regional. Kendall directed the 1996 team to a school-record 27 wins and a 16-0 ODAC mark. The team set a league record for conference wins and became only the second team in school history to go through conference play with a perfect record. Bridgewater proceeded to win all three of its ODAC tournament games to earn Kendall an unprecedented sixth tournament title. The Eagles made their third trip to the NCAAs under Kendall during the 1999 season, finishing with a 26-19 overall mark and an 11-5 ODAC record. BC defeated W&L to win the conference tournament and they won the program’s first-ever NCAA regional game, defeating Methodist, 16-6. This Is Bridgewater College
S
ince 1880, Bridgewater College has championed an educational philosophy of traditional values, exceptional scholarship, meaningful activities and service to the community. Its application proves that that there are more ways than one in which to learn, grow and succeed. Bridgewater offers an environment in which students can develop as whole persons using the distinctive Personal Development Portfolio (PDP) program. The program cultivates four dimensions of personal development: citizenship and community responsibility, intellectual growth and discovery, emotional maturation and physical health, and ethical and spiritual growth. It challenges students to develop their talents and to venture beyond their chosen disciplines to discover new interests and strengths.
At Bridgewater College, students will find outlets for their talents and energy that include top-notch theatrical productions, championship athletic teams, student-led spiritual opportunities and service-learning – a uniquely satisfying way in which to meet human needs while pursuing educational growth. A member of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference and the NCAA Division III, Bridgewater is highly competitive and successful in both. It offers intercollegiate competition in 21 sports. Bridgewater College is located in the heart of the breathtaking Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Nestled amid wooded hills, winding rivers and a picturesque township, it provides an atmosphere that is conducive to living, learning and developing the well-rounded, wholly educated student.
