Junior Jordan Burkholder has netted double figures in 22 of Bridgewater’s 25 games on the year Bridgewater’s 13 conference victories matches its 2008-09 total. BC has reached the ODAC finals on 13 seperate occasions. After starting the season with a bad case of the turnover bug, the Eagles turned in a season-low 12 turnovers in their overtime victory on February 9 at Virginia Wesleyan. Coming into the tournament, Bridgewater has won eight of its last ten games. Bridgewater netted nine three-pointers against Southern Virginia, which was the highest number for the team in a game on the year. BC has notched seven straight winning seasons dating back to the 2003-04 season. Head coach Jean Willi has posted just one losing season during her time at BC. Six players for the Eagles are averaging five or more points per game on the year. Bridgewater is averaging four blocks per game in ODAC play. Freshman Katie Hottinger leads the team with 35 blocks on the year. Bridgewater has won the ODAC title three times. Bridgewater has only lost two games (Roanoke, EMU) when out rebounding opponents. BC is 9-2 on the year when controlling the glass. The Eagles also own a 13-2 edge when shooting more free throws than their opponents. In two games played at neutral sites on the year, the Eagles have won and lost one game. On the year, the Eagles have not lost a game (11-0) when shooting at a better than 41% clip from the field.

Burkholder Named ODAC Player of the Week Feb. 1, 2010 SALEM, Va. – After averaging 22.5 points per game on the week and leading the Bridgewater Eagles women’s basketball team to a road win at Randolph-Macon, junior Jordan Burkholder has been named the ODAC Player of the Week. Burkholder got the week kicked off with a 17 point effort in Bridgewater’s 75-42 victory at Nininger Hall over Virginia Wesleyan. Sunday against the No. 2 team in the ODAC, Burkholder poured in 19 points in the second half to lead the Eagles to their first victory at Randolph-Macon in nearly six years. On the week, Burkholder tallied 45 points while shooting 60% (18-of-30) from the field.

Burkholder Named ODAC Player of the Week Feb. 1, 2010 SALEM, Va. - Fresh off of her 31-point outing in Sunday’s 79-73 victory at Emory & Henry, Bridgewater Eagles junior Jordan Burkholder was named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Player of the Week for the second time in three weeks. Burkholder turned in an astounding week on the hardwood, averaging 18.5 points per game across the four games the

Eagles played over the last seven days. Sunday’s 31 points for the junior guard was a career-high, eclipsing her former career-high of 29 points, also posted against Emory & Henry. Burkholder neared triple-double numbers on Saturday with seven rebounds and eight steals to go along with her 31 point effort. On the week, the Turner Ashby grad shot 51.3% from the field and was 30-of-38 from the line.

Eagles Enter Tournament on Hot Streak After losing back-to-back games at Washington and Lee and Roanoke in mid-January, the Bridgewater Eagles have won 10 of their last 12 contests. During the BC hot streak, the Eagles have outscored opponents at a 66-54 clip on average. Bridgewater was perfect at home from January 21 through the end of the season, notching five wins along the way. Junior Jordan Burkholder has averages 18-plus points per game during the stretch.

Familiar Foes Bridgewater and Virginia Wesleyan met twice during the year with the Eagles winning both games by 10-plus points. BC cruised to a 79-45 victory over the Marlins at home before coming from behind in the final minutes to force overtime before eventually prevailing by a 75-61 tally. Other notes from the two games: •Over the final five minutes of the two games, BC outscored Va. Wesleyan by a 35-17 tally, more than doubling up the Marlins. •Bridgewater has dominated points off turnovers and bench scoring against the Marlins. •In the two games, BC’s bench has outscored Virginia Wesleyan’s bench by a 64-22 margin while the Eagles have won the points off turnovers battle at a 51-28 clip. •BC owns a +18 turnover margin after two games with the Marlins which is the third-best turnover margin against a single opponent this year (Randolph, +19; Lynchburg, +20) •The two teams have played even halves in both games, with BC scoring 66 points combined in both the first and second half of the two games. VWC has combined for 50 first half points and 49 second half points. •Bridgewater has shot at a 37% tally from beyond the arc against the Marlins, while Wesleyan has shot at a 12.5% clip.

Civic Center Success Since the 2006-07 season, the Bridgewater Eagles have owned a 5-2 record at the Salem Civic Center, including a 5-1 mark the last two years. BC won the ODAC title on the Civic Center hardwood in 2008 and was the runner-up in 2009. Among the nine players currently on the BC roster that have played in previous ODAC tournament games, the Eagles have combined to play in 34 games with a 27-7 record overall. Bridgewater head coach Jean Willi has been a part of all three BC conference titles, including two as a head coach (1999, 2008).

Burkholder Climbing All-Time Charts

Willi Rolling Towards 275

BC junior Jordan Burkholder netted her 1,000th career point earlier in the season and continues rise through the Bridgewater career record books. Below is a list of where Burkholder currently ranks.

Bridgewater women’s basketball coach Jean Willi came into the season a mere one-tenth of a percentage point ahead of legendary Roanoke head coach Susan Dunigan on the active career winning percentage list. Through the regular season, Willi has won at a 71.5% clip throughout her career, and has posted 274 career wins. Willi has won 20 games or more nine times and has been at Bridgewater for 61.6% or 510 of BC’s 827 all-time victories as either a player, assistant coach or head coach.

BC vs. Virginia Wesleyan Game Capsules Game 1 - Jan. 26, 2010 - Nininger Hall BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Bridgewater’s women’s basketball team forced 21 Virginia Wesleyan miscues which turned into 26 points as the Eagles controlled the contest from start to finish in a 75-42 victory over the visiting Marlins. Three Bridgewater players were in double figures, led by Jordan Burkholder’s game-high 17 points. Junior Bianca Booker also chipped in an additional 12 points to go along with 11 rebounds to record her first career double-double, while Jenny Logan pitched in 11. Bridgewater used a 14-4 run over the game’s first five and half minutes to build a ten point advantage. Virginia Wesleyan chipped away at the 10 points Eagles advantage with a 9-2 run of its own to chip the BC lead to 16-13 with 11:15 to play in the opening stanza. Both teams would trade buckets until the 4:39 mark when a Katelynn Hottinger free throw sparked an 11-2 Eagles run to end the first half, giving BC a 37-24 halftime advantage. Logan led the Eagles in the first half with nine points. At the onset of the second half, Bridgewater maintained its 13 point halftime lead until a Booker layup sparked an 8-0 spurt to put the Eagles up 53-33 with 12 and change remaining. Virginia Wesleyan would get as close as 17 with just under 12 to play, before the Eagles ended the game with a 22-6 run to defeat the visiting Marlins 75-42. Bridgewater outscored the Marlins by a 38-to-18 tally in the second half. Burkholder’s 17 led the way for BC, while Booker’s 11 rebounds were a game-high, despite the Eagles being outrebounded by a 44-to-40 margin. Virginia Wesleyan was led by Kristen Blalock’s 11 point performance. Forward Maggie Davis pulled down nine boards to lead the Marlins on the glass. BC owned a 26-to-8 advantage in points off of turnovers and a 28-to-9 advantage in bench points. The Eagles also outshot the Marlins by a 47%-to-29% clip. BC vs. Virginia Wesleyan Game Capsules Game 2 - Feb. 9, 2010 - Batten Center VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Sophomore Jenny Logan’s career-high 23 points paced the Bridgewater Eagles women’s basketball team to a 75-61 victory on the road at Virginia Wesleyan (12-8, 9-6 ODAC). The win was Bridgewater’s (12-7, 9-6 ODAC) first victory at Virginia Wesleyan since 2005. Bridgewater led at the break by a 29-26 tally, behind 14 points from Logan. At the onset of the second half, BC used a 12-6 run to build up a nine point advantage with under 16 minutes to play. The Eagles built their lead to a game-high 10 points with 10:44 left before the Marlins went on an 11-2 run over the next four minutes of the game to cut BC’s lead down to a 48-47 tally. Both teams traded buckets until Virginia Wesleyan used a mini-run to edge ahead of the Eagles by 57-53 score with 44 ticks to play. Down the stretch, poor foul shooting by the Marlins allowed the Eagles to creep back into the game until a pair of Logan free throws knotted the game up at 57 with 15 seconds left. Virginia Wesleyan’s Jocelyn Spencer missed a three-pointer on the final possession of regulation, pushing the game to an extra session. After trading free throws during the first minute of overtime, Logan knocked in BC’s first trey of the game to give Bridgewater a 62-59 lead with 3:52 to play. Following a Maggie Davis free throw, the Eagles went on a 6-0 run, capped off by a Burkholder free throw following a technical foul on the Marlins bench to build a 68-60 lead with 2:34 remaining. BC built its lead to 10 points with 2:15 to go and never looked back as the Eagles earned a hard-fought 75-61 victory. The Eagles outpaced Virginia Wesleyan by a 18-to-4 tally in the extra stanza. Logan’s game-and-career-high 21 led the Eagles, while Burkholder chipped in an additional 17. Junior Emileigh Lambert matched her career-high with 14 points, while pulling in a team-high 10 boards to earn her second career double-double. Virginia Wesleyan was led by Tonia Jones’ 17 point outing. Maggie Davis notched a double-double with 13 points and a dozen boards. BC was out-rebounded by a 41-to-37 tally.
