Obituary James McNeal

Our much-loved Father, Husband, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and Father-in-law James McNeal, 93, of Scottsdale, passed away December 10, 2020. Born October 30, 1927 on his Family’s Farm in Montezuma, Iowa. Jim served in the Navy during WWII. He graduated from the University of Iowa where he met the love of his life Beverly Ann Hoops. The Dynamic Duo (Jim & Bev) settled in Arizona in 1953. Jim was the founder/owner of Arizona Western Insurance in Scottsdale. He was an avid Horseman and a member of the Scottsdale Posse, Verde Vaqueros, & the Scottsdale Charro’s.

He was a sports enthusiast, being a loyal fan of the Arizona Cardinals, Arizona State Sundevils, Iowa Hawkeyes, AZ Diamondbacks and Phoenix Suns.

Jim loved animals, gardening and watching the quail while sitting under The Big Mesquite tree at his home in North Scottsdale and riding the Tractor at his Horse Farm in North Carolina. A true Farmer at heart!

Jim’s incredible spirit and vivid personality was a blessing to anybody who knew him. He was the life of the party! He was predeceased by his wife Beverly of 62 years. Survived by two sons and their wives, Craig and Martina, Mike and Amy, and Grand-daughter Jami Shangler and her husband Matt and Great Grand-son Henry.

A Memorial Service will be held in the Spring of 2021. Details to follow.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Jim’s name to the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Scottsdale.
