RED RIBBON AWARDS + CHARITY AUCTION
23 November 2012 - The Pullman Hotel, 100 - 110 Euston Road , London NW1 2AJ, Auction commences at 20.45
Because You’re Worth It Thank you for joining us at the third annual Red Ribbon Awards – recognising excellence in the family business. Our main aim is to shine a light on the huge contribution that family businesses make to the UK economy and, before now, there has been a serious lack of recognition for the passionate, hard working families behind some of the UK’s most incredible businesses. And we’re not just talking about the household names or the high street brands, we’ve discovered some small gems who are quietly doing great things in their family business. For us at Family Business Place, the Red Ribbon Awards symbolise everything we set out to do; raise the profile and prestige of family businesses, generate huge publicity around the sector, give family businesses the recognition they deserve, provide a network for family businesses to access mentorship and advice, and most importantly – help family businesses succeed for future generations to come. So thank you to each and every one of you – whether you entered the awards, supported us through sponsorship, donated an auction prize or have helped us to spread the word. We have a great night ahead including entertainment from the brilliant RockChoir and a Charity Auction in aid of Global Angels and Make-A-Wish Foundation. We hope you have a fabulous evening and look forward to getting to know you and your business better in the future. Warmest best wishes,
Anita Brightley-Hodges Managing Director, Family Business Place
Founded by Molly Bedingfield in 2004, The Global Angels Foundation is an international charity, empowering disadvantaged children and communities around the world. Through The 100% Promise, every penny Global Angels receives from public donations goes directly to tangible on-the-ground resources such as safe drinking water, food, education, homes, rehabilitation, medical care and disaster relief. Tonight’s donations will go towards the 100 wells needed for 100 villages to provide 100,000 people in rural India with clean water. www.globalangels.org
Make-A-Wish Foundation® UK has a very simple objective – to grant magical wishes to children and young people fighting lifethreatening conditions. The charity was founded in the UK in 1986 and since then has granted over 7,700 wishes. This year, around 1,400 children will turn to Make-A-Wish to have their special wish granted – they need to raise over £6.8 million per year to continue granting these magical wishes. www.make-a-wish.org.uk
LOT 01
A Trio of Single Cask Strength Malt Whisky Donated by James Cannon of Cascabel Capital Guide price £100-150 This whisky is not readily available on the open market and is bottled by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society. The Society buys casks from the various Scottish Distilleries and bottles at cask strength. The benefit to the connoisseur is that the whisky is not chill filtered down to the legal alcohol limit of 70% Proof. This retains a considerable number of tastes that are lost by Chill Filtering. The strength of the bottles varies depending on the level of the “Angels’ Share”. The SMWS is not allowed to sell the bottles with the name of the Distillery on it. You will see that each bottle is numbered. The first set of numbers identifies the Distilery and the second set the number of the cask being bottled from that Distillery. There is a bottle of Highland, Lowland and Speyside within the trio. www.elevencompanies.com
